Nate Ware Announces his Retirement as Wilmington University Women’s Basketball’s Head Coach

NEW CASTLE, Del. – – After two seasons at the helm of the Wilmington University women’s basketball team, head coach Nate Ware announced his retirement from the sport on Tuesday. The athletic department will conduct a national search for his successor.

\”Nate has been one of the most positive people I have ever been around,\” athletic director Linda Van Drie-Andrzjewski said. \”He was very passionate about his teams, a very kind and caring coach. He is well liked by everyone in the department and his attitude and demeanor will be missed.\”

Ware came to Wilmington after eight seasons at the University of the Sciences as the women’s basketball head coach. In 10 seasons in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Ware has a combined record of 141-138 in NCAA Division II programs. He has also coached the men’s team at the Valley Forge Military College and Eastern College (now University). He has coached a total of 29 years in college athletics, amassing a record of 471-370.
