SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C., June 15, 2012 – \”Help!\” someone faintly calls out.
You look out to the ocean and see a man\’s arms flailing about, half a mile into the surf, struggling to stay afloat as waves crash down on him. What would you do, knowing lifeguards are not close enough to save him?Three 4th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Airmen assigned here found themselves in this situation while spending the day at Atlantic Beach, N.C., and on June 2 saved the life of a 49-year-old man.

KARVOUNIS, Patricia of Newtown Square, formerly of Philadelphia and born in Hazleton PA, passed on June 7, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved sister of Rose (Bill) Deitch, Vivian Weand and Betsy (Ted) Giovanis. Pat was an extraordinary aunt to nephews Douglas (Diane) Deitch, Christopher (Laurie) Deitch, George (Jane) Giovanis and Drew Giovanis, and to niece Diane (Brian) Hankinson. She was adored by her grand nieces and nephews Alex, Colin, Sarah, Owen, Mary and Nicholas.
Pat graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and soon found her passion and lifelong career as Vice President of Program Development at Eisenhower Fellowships. This Philadelphia based, not-for-profit organization is an international leader exchange program founded in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Pat worked as a mentor, coach and passionate advocate for individuals who, as international industry and political leaders, came to the United States to broaden their world and professional viewpoints. Through her efforts, Pat contributed to the leadership development of hundreds of CEOs, ambassadors, members of Parliament, academic chancellors and nonprofit executives around the globe. Her admirers are among the most recognized government leaders of her time, including former US presidents, cabinet members and academic presidents. Her loyal groups of supporters around the world are testimony to the care, professionalism and love she put into their programs. Pat will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends and professional colleagues at Eisenhower Fellowships.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Tuesday, June 19th, 11:00am at St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church, 35 North Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Patricia’s name be made to St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church.

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife has released the tentative migratory bird hunting season dates as approved at the June 12 Fish and Game Council meeting.
Although they are expected to be approved by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, they will not be formally finalized through the Federal Register process until the conclusion of the public comment period in late summer.

Nicholas F. Marchese, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 14, 2012, of Blackwood, formerly of Bellmawr & Camden. Age 84. He is the father of Gloucester City Councilman Nick Marchese.
Beloved husband of the late Aileen (Kelly). Devoted father of Karen Cornell (George), Linda Collaretti (and the late John),Nancy Albright (John), Nicholas Marchese, Jr. (Janice), Steven Marchese, Terry O’Hanlon and Michael Marchese (Beth). Loving grandfather of Lisa Davis (Jeff), Nicole Graffius (Jason), Shannon O’Hanlon, Matthew Collaretti, Andrew Collaretti, Kristin Marchese, Christopher Albright, Toni Albright, Lauren Marchese, Patrick O’Hanlon, Kevin O’Hanlon, Caitlin O’Hanlon, Isabella Marchese and Jacob Marchese. Nicholas proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He was an amateur boxer and the sole proprietor of Atlas Exterminator. He was the owner and operator of MAR-K-Z Fruit, Produce and Seafood and he was an avid casino goer. Nicholas was a member of the Brooklawn American Legion Post 72.
In lieu of flowers the family requests the donations be made in Nicholas’ memory to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 18 E. Laurel Road, Stratford, NJ 08084.

The 2012 Presidential campaigns have massive, state-of-the-art databases that contain data on millions of voters and past
supporters, which they’re using to compete in a campaign that’s increasingly being fought online. While the campaigns started amassing these databases in past cycles to target direct mail, this political season they are being augmented and used in new and sometimes opaque ways.
For the past few weeks, we’ve been asking readers to send us the campaign emails they receive to help us understand and shine a light on how modern campaigns are being run. So far about 250 readers have sent us more than 1,800 email examples.

In May and June, a total of 1306 students graduated from Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Camden, with over $112 million in scholarships and grants awarded to students.
A total of 1,290 of the graduates (99%) will attend college in the fall. Some others will go on to serve in the U.S. military.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – – For the third year in a row, the Wilmington University men’s teams have won the 2011-12 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cup in an announcement made by the CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. The Wildcat women finished seventh and in the top half of the conference for the fifth consecutive season.

Monaca, Beaver County – Members of Gov. Tom Corbett’s Cabinet were joined by a coalition of supporters today to discuss the importance of bringing a petrochemical complex to Pennsylvania that would create more than 10,000 construction jobs and up to 20,000 permanent jobs in spinoff production and manufacturing industries.
