The state final will be a rematch of a May 6 game in which Don Bosco beat Gloucester Catholic, 5-3, in 10 innings on a game-ending three-run homer by Dartmouth-bound Joe Purritano in an instant classic played in Provident Bank Park in Pomona, N.Y.

\”They got us the last time, but we look forward to playing them again,\” said Santone, a senior rightfielder who got the Rams started with a three-run double in the second inning.

Alessandrine, a senior shortstop, scored three runs and stole two bases. Theckston, a junior catcher known more for his defense, reached base three times and delivered a two-run single at the end of a nine-pitch at-bat in the fifth.

\”We can hit, one through nine, and we\’ve got guys on the bench who can hit, too,\” said Gloucester Catholic coach Dennis Barth, whose top-ranked team has won 10 in a row.

Miller: STOP! You’re Killing Me With Your Kindness | gopusa.com

In an erstwhile attempt to protect the American public, our government is imposing more and more restrictions, taking away our\"\" individual freedoms, and arrogantly proclaiming that their elite ruling class knows what is best for the rest of us.

The most recent example of government overreach is the announcement by New York City’s mayor that NYC will outlaw the serving of soft drinks in any container larger than 16 ounces. Now, understand that alcohol, milkshakes, and all manner of other beverages are not being regulated in such a manner, but the mayor has decided that soft drinks, served in restaurants, are the singular cause of obesity in New York and is the enemy-of-the-moment. He also sees another perfect opportunity for a government power grab under the guise of \”kindness.\”

City Planning Board Mulls Plan For Three New Homes

NEWS Correspondent

(Gloucester City News 5/31/12)During a brief meeting last week, members of the Gloucester City Planning Board heard an informal presentation by Jerry Velazquez of Triad Associates regarding some City-owned property on Market Street.

Velazquez said the lots, located at 326-328 Market Street, were purchased by the City about five years ago, when the municipality received some funds from the state. The building was originally going to be used for office space, but the plan now is to demolish the present structure and build three single-family detached homes.

Each house will be about 1,350 square-feet, with three bedrooms and one and a half baths. One home will face Market Street, while the other two will front to Powell Street.

Velazquez said the homes will sell for around $115,000 to $120,000 each.

The four board members in attendance voted to adjourn following the short presentation, as there was no other business before the Board.

The Planning Board will hold their next regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20 in the City Administration Building, Monmouth Street.
