Patricia Karvounis, of Newton Square, Vice President of Program Development at Eisenhower Fellowships

 

KARVOUNIS, Patricia of Newtown Square, formerly of Philadelphia and born in Hazleton PA, passed on June 7, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved sister of Rose (Bill) Deitch, Vivian Weand and Betsy (Ted) Giovanis. Pat was an extraordinary aunt to nephews Douglas (Diane) Deitch, Christopher (Laurie) Deitch, George (Jane) Giovanis and Drew Giovanis, and to niece Diane (Brian) Hankinson. She was adored by her grand nieces and nephews Alex, Colin, Sarah, Owen, Mary and Nicholas.


Pat graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and soon found her passion and lifelong career as Vice President of Program Development at Eisenhower Fellowships. This Philadelphia based, not-for-profit organization is an international leader exchange program founded in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Pat worked as a mentor, coach and passionate advocate for individuals who, as international industry and political leaders, came to the United States to broaden their world and professional viewpoints. Through her efforts, Pat contributed to the leadership development of hundreds of CEOs, ambassadors, members of Parliament, academic chancellors and nonprofit executives around the globe. Her admirers are among the most recognized government leaders of her time, including former US presidents, cabinet members and academic presidents. Her loyal groups of supporters around the world are testimony to the care, professionalism and love she put into their programs. Pat will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends and professional colleagues at Eisenhower Fellowships.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Tuesday, June 19th, 11:00am at St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church, 35 North Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Patricia’s name be made to St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church.
