Menendez Accepts Debates Under Mounting Pressure from Kyrillos Campaign

Middletown, September 18… Since early summer, the Kyrillos campaign has called on Senator Menendez to publicly defend his failed 20-year record in Washington. After months of delay and under increasing pressure from the Kyrillos campaign, Senator Menendez finally agreed today to three debates. But true to form, Senator Menendez has given the people of New Jersey less – two less debates than he agreed to in 2006. Back then Menendez even branded his opponent a coward for not wanting to debate. Guess it takes one to know one.

In contrast, Senator Kyrillos has accepted every debate invitation because he knows that New Jerseyans deserve to hear directly from the candidates in order to make an informed decision.

\”It is clear that without the pressure from the Kyrillos campaign, Senator Menendez would not have accepted any debates,\”said Kyrillos Campaign Manager Chapin Fay. \”And why would he? How do you defend a failed economic record of high unemployment, high debt, and continually rising costs of goods and services? In 2006, Senator Menendez was eager to debate, accepting invitations as early as June. Now that ‘Belt-way Bob’ has record of economic failure following him around, he doesn’t want to talk. Senator Kyrillos stands ready to debate Senator Menendez and force him to defend his failed record as a United States Senator and has thus accepted ALL invitations to debate.\”
