Pa. Industrial Firefighter Dies During Training

Firefighter Michael Martin, 51, was stricken while in SCBA training recently.

 An industrial firefighter collapsed and died recently while participating in a first responder class in Pennsylvania.

During the SCBA scenario in late November, Michael Martin, 51, fell ill.

The instructor at the Luzerne County Community College Public Training Institute initiated CPR.

An ambulance transported Martin to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Martin was employed at PPL Susquehanna and was a member of the fire brigade at the nuclear power plant in Salem Township.
