The son of William H. (\”Weary\”) Gallagher (1908-1984) and Roseanna (nee Valentine) Gallagher (1909-1989) was born in Gloucester City in 1928. The family consisted of him, his brother, John A. Gallagher (1930-Present), Robert Gallagher (1932-1994), and his sister, Shirley (Gallagher) Zanetich (1940-1987). He is survived by his brother, John A. Gallagher who still resides in Gloucester City.
A graduate of Gloucester City High School (class of 1946), Bill served in the US Army for
a brief period and then left Gloucester City for New York City. He was hired by renown costume designer, Barbara Matera. While working for her, Bill helped design and build numerous costumes for Broadway productions such as \”A Chorus Line,\” and \”The Lion King\” as well as movies and ballets. He worked for Barbara Matera Ltd. from 1968 until his retirement. Upon retiring, he spent most of his time in the cabin left to him by the Materas in New Paltz, NY.
