Ocean City was the first community in Cape May County to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration was initiated a few years after his death by the late Rozelia Cobb, a beloved teacher at the Ocean City Intermediate School.

The tradition is carried forward today by former councilman, Rev. Gregory Johnson, who will present an inspirational reading of Dr. King\’s \”I Have a Dream Speech\” during a ceremony set for 1 p.m., Sat., Jan. 19, at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center, Ocean City High School, 6th and Atlantic Ave.

January 17,2013-Did you know that yesterday was Religious Freedom Day in America? It didn’t get a lot of attention, since President Obama was busy signing executive orders, but he also put out a proclamation on religious freedom.

\”Because of the protections guaranteed by our Constitution, each of us has the right to practice our faith openly and as we choose,\” the President wrote. \”As we observe Religious Freedom Day, let us remember the legacy of faith and independence we have inherited, and let us honor it by forever upholding our right to exercise our beliefs free from prejudice or persecution.\”

That’s one heck of a proclamation from an Administration whose actions have attacked religious liberty for Americans.

The best-known example is Obamacare’s Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate that employers pay for contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in their health care plans. This has caused business owners to face excruciating decisions between complying—and violating their consciences—or facing massive fines.

The sad fact is, under President Obama, Americans have been forced to fight for their religious liberty in the courts. More than 110 plaintiffs are fighting the HHS mandate, and that’s hardly the only religious liberty battle being waged.

The Supreme Court has already rebuked the Administration for its attacks on religious liberty—and it did so unanimously:

(Woodbury, NJ) – Saturday, November 24, 2012 has come and gone and the Gloucester County Department of Economic Development and the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to gage the results to the Shop, Dine, Go Local Campaign launched by the Gloucester County Board of Freeholders last August.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said that the county’s Shop, Dine, Go Local campaign was the home-grown effort developed to promote shopping locally during the largest shopping weekend of the year and more than 250 businesses participated in the event.

There is still time to get an influenza vaccine that could protect you during the remainder of the 2012-2013 flu season.

FDA has approved influenza vaccines from seven manufacturers, and collectively they have produced an estimated 135 million doses of this season’s flu vaccine for the U.S. So far, more than 128 million of those doses have been distributed, though not all of those doses have been administered yet, according to our sister agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

We have received reports that some consumers have found spot shortages of the vaccine. We are monitoring this situation and will update you at ourWebsite and at www.flu.gov.

NEW ORLEANS – Brianna Rollins of No. 1 Clemson, the new collegiate record holder in the 60 hurdles, highlights the inaugural six winners of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week Award, announced Monday afternoon.

With her blistering 7.78 at Clemson’s Tiger Challenge, Rollins’ performance was the most exceptional among the outstanding performances turned in by all six award winners. She joins men’s winner Casimir Loxsom of Penn State as the Division I representatives.
