Gloucester City News Letters to the Editor

CHURCH NOT A CULT

The Lighthouse Baptist Church in Gloucester City over the years has taken some blows from people who know nothing about my pastor or church. We are not a cult, nor do we affiliate with any such religion.

On Monday night, January 9, we had a memorial service for Leroy Bonner \”Candyman.\” He has been a member for over 17 years. His family chose to have a private viewing. We as members did not get to say our goodbyes.

Our pastor, Jim Doster, decided to have a memorial in honor of Leroy. Some of his family members were informed. We did not intend to cause pain or harm to his family.

We are Bible believing church. That’s it! I am tired of hearing bad things about our Pastor and church, stop it. We’re not so bad when feeding the hungry, paying rent, giving out clothes, and finding shelter for those in need.

If you care to find out the truth about my pastor or church, come visit anytime. We welcome you. Other than that, leave my pastor and church alone.

Thank you, God Bless

Patricia (Tinker) Ruple, Gloucester City

Grand Opening of Small Business in Voorhees on Monday, Jan. 21st
Come join the grand opening of Momma’s Home Made, a family-owned food company run by Daisy Smith and her daughter and partner, Jaconda Bell. Known for their homemade applesauce that people say tastes like Mom’s apple pie, they are expanding their business and creating new products on a store and takeout restaurant combined with a production facility for their products, including several versions of their apple sauce and a new hot wings sauce and apple carrot cake mix. Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. will be there on Martin Luther King Day, to do the ribbon cutting on the new venture, located at Suite #2, Southgate Plaza, 1225 Haddonfield Berlin Road, Voorhees. The ceremony is at 11 a.m. but the grand opening will go on until closing at 7 p.m., with some free samples along the way. Three generations of this family, from grandmother Daisy to her kids and grand-kids, have helped build this business. Camden County’s economic development team helped them with site selection, applying for start-up funds and small business training, a service they provide for many small businesses and start-ups in the County.
