Ducks Softball Picked to Finish Fourth in Empire 8


ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 27, 2013)
– The Empire 8 Conference released its Preseason Coaches’ Poll earlier this month and the Stevens Institute Technology softball team was voted to finish the season fourth out of the eight-team conference. In 2012, Stevens wrapped up the season with a 17-24 overall record and a 7-5 mark within the Empire 8.

TULANE CANCER CENTER RECEIVES $100K GRANT FROM THE KAY YOW CANCER FUND

 

New Orleans (Feb. 27, 2013) – The Kay Yow Cancer Fund®, in partnership with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, has awarded a $100,000 women’s lung cancer research grant to the Tulane Cancer Center.

Annually, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund supports a cancer research based grant in the host city of the NCAA Women’s Final Four. The $100,000 grant will be awarded to the Tulane Cancer Center to continue research on the impact of mobile elements on genetic instability in lung cancer. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is privileged to work in collaboration with The V Foundation Scientific Advisory Board to identify and review grant proposals supporting women’s cancer research.

Sensational Frosh Maggie McIntyre Makes History

 GLOUCESTER CATHOLIC HS NEWS–While the Lady Rams basketball team ran into some tough competition at the South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament at Eastern last weekend, GCHS\’ Maggie McIntyre was busy making history.

Maggie became the first freshman in history to win the 3-Point Shootout Campaign on Sunday, when she prevailed over her competition in the Final Four. Overall, Maggie beat out 167 of South Jersey\’s top shooters, and was awarded the title at halftime of Sunday\’s SJIBT Championship game between Rancocas Valley and Willingboro.
