RALEIGH, N.C. (February 8, 2013) – The Kay Yow Cancer Fund®, in partnership with the Women\’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, today announced the start of the seventh annual Play 4Kay® initiative. The national fundraising effort is in memory of former North Carolina State University head coach Kay Yow, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and battled the disease until 2009.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has allocated $2,515,000 to various research projects and related programs with future projects currently under review. While the Kay Yow Cancer Fund raises money for research and awareness for all women\’s cancers, Play 4Kay is a breast cancer specific initiative.
