Katie O\’Shea, Nick Liscio Honored at Player of the Year Luncheon

PHILADELPHIA PA–Congrats to seniors Katie O\’Shea and Nick Liscio on being $\"548943_10151373872677727_2064307124_n\"$ honored during the 8th Annual Adam Taliaferro Foundation Player of the Year Luncheon at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Tuesday, April 16, 2013.

The luncheon was hosted by the Eagles and recognized 18 schools from South Jersey that helped raise money for the foundation in 2012-2013. Gloucester Catholic and Williamstown were the co-winners of the annual fund-raising event, and Katie and Nick were awarded scholarship funds.

Thanks to Mr. Tom Iacovone, Jr. for organizing GCHS\’ annual fundraising efforts for the Taliaferro Foundation.

All players and coaches received a tour of the stadium following the luncheon.

On April 24, 2013. Age 94 (nee Kessler) Of Mt. Ephraim. Formerly of Villas, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Albert L. Reeve. Cherished mother of Alice Jackson (Richard), Loving stepmother of Jean Shearer, Doris Holderby, Shirley Harris (Leon), Albert Reeve, Jr. (Lois), Mary Jane Stetser (Ken), Barbara Holderby, Fred Reeve (Anne), the late Lawrence (Rae), and John Reeve.

\”Granny\” will forever be remembered by Tim Jackson, Kim and Mark Price and their children Natalie, Jackson and Logan.

Also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In raising ten children, Tillie was the consummate organizer, housekeeper, and cook. After her beloved husband, Albert, passed away, she took her first driving lesson at the age of 67. She loved dancing and was the life of many parties. Her happiest days were spent with her family on the beach in Cape May.

Tillie was a member of the Gloucester City Senior Citizens Association and the 60+ club of Mt. Ephraim.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Funeral service 8 PM in the funeral home. Interment private.

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, the Gloucester Lions hosted the Glassboro Bulldogs. The game featured a pitching duel between Lions Austin Darrow and Bulldogs Rocco Mazzo. Darrow and Mazzo went inning for inning putting 0 on the board. Mazzo was forced off the mount in 6th while Darrow went the distance.

The Lions mounted several threats against Mazzo throughout the game but the Bulldogs defense stopped any Lions from crossing the plate. While Lion\’s Darrow kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard allowing 6 baserunners over 7 innings while striking out 9. But the Bulldogs Mazzo led off the 8th against Darrow and scored after a couple Lion\’s miscues giving the Bulldogs an 2 -0 win.

The Lion\’s were led on offense by Stephen Bobo 2 for 3 with a double.

Rt 295 South Al Jo curve traffic pattern shift Friday Night

As reported in the South Jersey Times, State transportation officials have announced that a major traffic pattern shift on the Interstate 295 southbound Al-Jo Curve ramp under Interstate 76 is expected to be implemented this weekend as part of the Direct Connection project in Bellmawr and Mt. Ephraim

Beginning Friday night, contractor PKF Mark III plans to shift both travel lanes on the ramp to the outside, up against the existing curb line. The shift – which will require overnight lane closures and will be fully in place Saturday morning

He worked at the Voila Bakery in Brooklyn, New York City and loved to cook. Lorenzo was always generous and he truly loved his family. He was a real jokester and enjoyed music.

Obituary: Sophia Harris, age 94, of Brooklawn

Mrs. Sophia Harris, age 94, passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2013, in Selma, Ala. Mrs. $\"Image\"$ Harris is survived by her daughters, Theresa Striedieck (Frederick), and Christine Toughill. Grandchildren;Julianna Hunter, and Steven Toughill (Nikki). Great grandchildren, William C. Cobb, Sarah Toughill, Gabrielle Toughill, and Patrick Toughill, and great-great-grandson, Aaiden Santos.Also cherished niece Marie Alterie. She was also blessed with a dearly loved second family; Stepchildren Leon Harris (Shirley), and Sandra (John). Grandchildren; Leon Harris (Theresa), Steven (Ilene), and Dale (Deborah). Grandchildren: Andrew, Keri, Angela, John, and Michelle.

Mrs. Harris was a longtime resident of Brooklawn, NJ. She served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Townsend C. Young VFW Post #3620 for several years. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful items. She also crocheted baby hats for infants and lap rugs for nursing homes. She was an avid cook, and loved to bake, and spend time with her family and friends. She moved to Selma, Alabama, three years ago to be with family and continued her hobby of crocheting infant hats and items for the less fortunate.

Mrs. Harris was cremated and an Interment Service will be held April 29, 2013, at New St. Mary\’s Cemetery in Bellmawr, where she will be placed along side of her beloved husband, Leon Harris.
