Barbara attended The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York. She then served in the Diocese of New Jersey as Assistant at St. John\’s, in Elizabeth; Rector of Trinity Church, in Swedesboro; Vicar of St. Stephen\’s, in Florence; and as Retired Priest Associate at the Church of the Ascension, in Gloucester City.

Rev. Harris is survived by her three sons: Mark Harris of Victoria, Texas, Dan Harris of Park City, Utah, and Jeff Harris of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Sean Harris of Victoria, Texas and Jonathan and Lauren Harris of Fort Worth, Texas, and her sister Rhea Harris of Shalimar, Florida. A Memorial Service with Eucharist will be held Friday, April 19^th, 11:00AM at the Church of the Ascension, 110 S. Sussex St., Gloucester City, NJ. The interment of ashes will follow in Harleigh Cemetery in Camden. Funeral arrangements had been entrusted to ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL, GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ

Helen was born in Pennsauken and was a 1954 graduate of Camden Catholic High School in Camden. Mrs. Heisler worked as a secretary in the Gloucester City Board of Education from 1977 to 2002. Helen was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City, a devoted member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Gloucester City Senior Citizens Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth St. Gloucester City. Interment private at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. 

In compliance with Helen’s wishes we request, in a continued plea for the sanctity of life, there will be NO flowers with the exception of a single red rose. While we didn\’t see much snow this winter, the cold weather seemed to hang around a little too long this year. Now that weather has finally gotten warmer, we are all happy to see the start of new life… Birds are chirping, grass is greener, flowers are blooming and we have the first swings of Little League bats this season.

And this year spring brings us something very new to the Bellmawr Little League fields on Essex Ave… Our first signs of the start of the long awaited \”Direct Connection\” project, which as you should know, will redesign the crossroads of 295/76/42, including taking a lot of the curve out of the Al-Jo\’s curve in Mt Ephraim.

 What originally was a wooded backdrop to the Little League fields, has been cleared out straight to the highway. Workers are moving quickly to install a taller fence separating the fields from the roadway. The new tall steel fence posts stand like guards protecting the town from the dangers of the highway. This is to make room for a widened and elevated section of highway going through this area.

Seeing a culvert behind the minor league left field, reminded me of when I was a kid a long time ago, going back into those \”woods\” to play in the stream.

I had actually seen the construction when driving by on the highway, and since it was a nice day I drove around to the field and took a few photos.

I also include a Google Map image of the trees that were there, and an odd NJDOT rendering of the final barrier wall at the fields… odd, in that they seem to depict the bleachers of a ball field directly behind the short-stop. I hope this isn\’t 100% accurate. 🙂

(April 13, 2013)GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–Trailing 1-0 in bottom of the 7th Albie Carracino led off with a double and tied the scored on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Chris Walmsley. The Lion\’s loaded the bases with two intentional walks with 2 outs before Mike Cox singled to rightfield to score Walmsley. Austin Darrow recorded his second win of season with a complete game performance with 7 strikeouts, no walks and only three hits . The Lions will host Woodbury in the Championship game tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 20.
