Pennsylvania turkey hunters are permitted to hunt from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset, beginning Monday, May 13. The expanded hunting hours continue through the last day of the season, Friday, May 31.
All-day hunting during the second half of the spring season began in 2011 to provide interested hunters with more time to be afield.

OLEAN, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure used two eighth inning runs to knock off the La Salle baseball team, 7-5, on Saturday afternoon at Fred Handler Park. Sophomore Kevin Conroy(3-4, RBI, 2 runs) paced the Explorer offense and sophomore Ryan Welling notched a 2-3 line with a run and RBI.
Conroy jump started the La Salle in the first, depositing a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead. Junior George Smith, Jr. (1-3, RBI) doubled home Welling in the second, who worked a two-out walk to keep the inning alive. Two more Explorers touched home in the third on sophomore Justin Korenblatt\’s (1-5, 2 RBI) fifth triple of the season to open up a 4-0 lead.
Not to be turned away on their senior day, the Bonnies (18-25, 8-13) began chipping at the lead in the bottom of the third and proceeded to score one run in each of the next five innings. La Salle starter Shane Hollman was charged with three earned runs on five hits in 5.1 innings of work.

Game Commission asks citizens to report sightings of affected animals.
HARRISBURG – The fuel tanker explosion that has closed a stretch of Interstate 81 near
Harrisburg also caused about 2,000 gallons of spilled diesel fuel to flow into a nearby wetlands, prompting a rapid response to contain and clean up the spill, and rescue affected wildlife.
Efforts continue today at Wildwood Lake Sanctuary, which lies just northwest of the interchange where the tanker overturned and caught fire.
Fuel spilled at the crash site May 9 traveled through a storm drain to Paxton Creek and into the Wildwood marsh, an important habitat for wildlife and plants, including state endangered species of each.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission responded to the marsh just before noon on Thursday, after a man who had been hiking through Wildwood Park called to report the spill. Field officers with the commission paddled their way around the lake and were able to rescue about a dozen fuel-coated ducklings and goslings from the marsh.

CAMDEN, N.J. (May 8, 2013) – Rutgers University-Camden senior centerfielderAlbert Rivera (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) has been named to the Capital One Baseball Academic All-District 2 First Team for the second consecutive season.
Rivera, a four-year letterman with the Scarlet Raptors who collected his 100th career hit in Rutgers-Camden’s ECAC Div. III Metro tournament win on Wednesday, owns a 3.82 GPA as a Finance major with a minor in Statistics.
The Academic All-American teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), are released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs in 2011.

PHILADELPHIA PA–May 10, 2013 Six Archdiocesan high school students were among those recognized by Mayor Michael A. Nutter at a press conference during the 75th Annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. The students took grand prize, first prize and honorable mentions in the 11th Annual Poster Art Contest held in conjunction with the Regatta.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (May 10, 2013) – The Empire 8 Conference released its post season baseball awards today and nine members of the Stevens Institute of Technology squad were recognized on the first- and second-teams. Stevens finished up its 2013 season with a 23-18 overall record and bowed out of the ECAC Metro Tournament on Wednesday afternoon against Rutgers-Camden University.
Three student-athletes landed on the first-team in junior Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), sophomore Ryan Mannello (Staten Island, N.Y) and freshman Ryan Patterson (Staten Island, N.Y.).

The Lion’s Varsity Baseball team returned 7 starters from this seasons 6 -11 squad for the 2014 campaign, but the leadership of the outgoing 2013 seniors will be reflected next season through their dedication and commitment to the program.
Captain Thomas O’Donnell a three year varsity starter has not missed an inning behind the plate this season. O’Donnell has been a stellar performer helping the young pitchers with his defense and handling the pitches. The captain leads the Lions in many categories, (No. 1) in 15- runs batted in, (No. 1) in 12- base on balls and (No. 2) in .340 team batting ave. Along with O’Donnell is captain – Albie Carracino who roams centerfielder and directs the other young outfielders. Carracino leads the team with a .358 team batting ave. and five stolen bases and (No. 2) in 12 runs batted in.

OLEAN, N.Y. – The La Salle baseball team swept St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon, 7-3 and 6-4, to improve its Atlantic 10 record to 16-5 on the season. With the victories, the Explorers broke the program’s previous high wins mark in the conference of 14, set in 2010. The Blue and Gold evened up their season record at 23-23 while the Bonnies slid to 17-25.
Game 1
La Salle struck first in game one, mounting a two-spot in the third inning RBI doubles from senior Dan Klem (1-2) and sophomore Kevin Conroy (2-4). The Explorers added another in the fifth on a Kevin Baron (0-3) sacrifice fly to lead 3-0.
The Blue and Gold picked up two unearned runs in the sixth and notched two more in the seventh via Conroy and Justin Korenblatt (1-4) RBI to create a 7-0 advantage.
In the meantime, junior Shawn O’Neill was mowing down the St. Bonaventure bats, throwing seven innings while allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts. The Bonnies scored all three of their runs in the seventh to cut the Explorer lead to 7-3, which proved to be the final score. O’Neill improved his record to 5-5 on the season.
Junior Dominic Sgroi and sophomore Adam Cherry each pitched scoreless innings to polish off the Bonnies and hang onto the victory. Cherry earned his second save of the year with the performance.
La Salle outhit the home team 7-3 in the ballgame and benefitted from three St. Bonaventure errors. Andrew Revello (5-6) was charged with the loss, coughing up four earned runs over 6.2 innings.
Game 2
The home team got on the board first, tacking on a run in the bottom of the third. The Explorers countered with a run in the fourth and another in the fifth behind RBI singles from sophomore Ryan Welling (1-4) and Baron (3-5) to take a 2-1 lead.
The Bonnies cracked through for three runs in the sixth to claim a 4-2 edge. The first run of the inning was charged to senior Ryan Donohue, who surrendered two runs in five-plus innings of work.
La Salle answered right back in the eighth by pushing four runs across, though three were unearned. Klem capped off the frame with a two-RBI single for a 6-4 lead.
Freshman Luke Reilly earned his first collegiate victory, tossing a scoreless seventh inning. Reilly handed the ball to senior Pat Christensen, who worked two scoreless innings to earn the 11th save of his season and the 44th of his career. The tally is good for a tie for fifth-most in NCAA Division I history.
The Explorers and Bonnies will meet on Saturday at noon for the series finale.
