MERION STATION, Pa. – Saint Joseph’s senior Kyle Mullen (Berwyn, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep) set a new school record for wins in a career and junior Jimmy Yacabonis (Matawan, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) notched his single-season record eighth save of the season as the SJU baseball team topped Xavier, 2-1, at Smithson Field on Friday afternoon.

Lions’ season comes to a close with 10-6 loss at Ramapo

Mahwah, NJ … The College of New Jersey baseball team saw its season come to a close as they were eliminated in the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship tournament with a 10-6 loss at Ramapo College.

The Lions (17-22) battled back from an early, six-run deficit, but the Roadrunners (26-13-1) combined 15 hits with six TCNJ errors to plate ten runs and advance to the next round of the conference tourney.

Stover Earns First Career Win

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.
 – Freshman lefthander Jack Stover (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) tossed six strong innings to earn the first victory of his collegiate career as the Saint Joseph’s baseball team jumped out to a big lead in the middle innings and held it for a 6-3 win over Rider at Sonny Pittaro Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Stover allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out seven in six shutout innings. After allowing a one-out hit in the first inning, he retired 10 straight batters.

Lions Hitting Woes Continue | cnbnews.net

May 1, 2013–The Gloucester Lion\’s Baseball Team\’s hitting woes continued for a third straight game. After two consecutive loss\’s this week (Gloucester Institute of Technology 3 -0 / Glassboro 2 – 0) the Lion\’s traveled to Penns Grove a team on a 9 game losing streak.

Looking to reverse the offensive drought the Lion\’s sent Junior pitcher Austin Darrow to the mound. In his preivous start Darrow struck out 10 Glassboro batters taking a scoreless game into the 8th inning before losing 2 – 0 on a couple fielding miscues. His unlucky streak continued in Penns Grove where he allowed 6 hits on several fly ball miscues again while allowing two Penns Grove runners to score in their last at bat. .

The past week saw Senior Steven Bobo pitch a fantastic game but no run production put a loss in front of his name. The Lion\’s pitcher Bobo and Darrow) this week have allowed 4 earned runs in three games and have resulted in the Lions falling to a 3 and 9 record.

The Lion\’s look to rebound in Saturday\’s Jim Kelly Tournament Championship game against Woodbury home starting at 2:30
