(CNBNews.net raw video)-Bottom of the Third, Brooklawn\’s Gonzalez hits a triple, breaks the game wide open. The Brooker\’s Cieri hit a double late in the game. Strong pitching by Tyler Mondile for seven innings kept Delaware off the bases. He was clocked at 91 mph and average between 88-89 mph. In September, Mondile will be starting his sophomore year in high school. Brooklawn remains undefeated in the Mid Atlantic tournament, season record improves to 40-8. Brooklawn plays at 4:30 p.m. Sunday with just two wins separating it from a third straight trip to the American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C. Stahl will play at 1 p.m. for a chance at a rematch with the Brookers on Monday.~ Adam Tussey Jr.

Boyertown loss sets up showdown with Twin Valley

That means the Bears (36-13-2) will play rival Twin Valley at 3:30 p.m. today at Campbell’s Field in Camden, N.J. The winner will advance to Sunday’s action; the loser is done for the year.
 
In other action today, West Seneca (N.Y.) plays South Charleston (W.V.) in an elimination game at noon. Brooklawn plays Stahl (Del.) at 7 p.m. in the winners bracket final.
 
The Mid-Atlantic champion qualifies for the American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C.
Twin Valley lost its opener Thursday, but rebounded with a dominating 12-2 victory against Gibbsboro, N.J., in an elimination game.
 
The Boyertown-Brooklawn game – the last contest of the day – didn’t start until 9:37 p.m. It was originally scheduled for 7, but the afternoon games were delayed due to weather.

Jersey City Police Officer Charged with Cigarette Cargo Theft

NEWARK, NJ—A Jersey City, New Jersey police officer appeared in Newark federal court this afternoon to face charges that he stole more than 600,000 cigarettes from a trailer and conspired to rob $20,000 from a drug courier, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Mario Rodriguez, 39, of Jersey City, is charged by complaint with one count of cargo theft and one count of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act extortion under color of official right. He appeared this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor in Newark federal court and was released on a $250,000 bond and confined to home incarceration with electronic monitoring. The complaint also charges Anthony Roman, 48, also of Jersey City, in the conspiracy. Roman was arrested at home August 2, 2013, and appeared in court the same day. He was released on a $250,000 bond.
