Districts Must Provide Notice to Students Under Anti-Big Brother Law

Effective July 1, schools that provide students with electronic devices such as cellphones, laptop, tablet or notebook computers, or other devices, must give the student written or electronic notification that the device may record or collect information on the student’s activity or use of the device. This notice must be provided if the device is equipped with a camera, Global Positioning System, or other feature capable of recording or collecting information on the student’s activity or use of the device.

Project WILD, WILD Aquatic, WET

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is offering an exciting training opportunity for individuals who have previously taken a Project WILD, WILD Aquatic, WET or Project Learning Tree workshop to become facilitators for future workshops. 

A two-day facilitator training is being offered on Thursday, September 26 at the Forest Resource Education Center in Jackson NJ and on Thursday, October 10 at the Benjamin Moore Paint Center in Flanders, NJ. Both sessions run from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Participants will learn directly from project coordinators the skills necessary to plan, conduct and lead workshops for all four of these exciting, nationally recognized education programs, and how to become a successful facilitator.

Federal Grand Jury Indicts Two Men for Obstruction of Justice in the Boston Marathon Bombing Investigation

BOSTON—(AUGUST 8, 2013) A federal grand jury today returned a two-count indictment against two men previously charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice in the Boston Marathon bombing investigation.

Dias Kadyrbayev, 19, and Azamat Tazhayakov, 19, nationals of Kazakhstan who were residing in New Bedford on student visas, were charged today with conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstructing justice with the intent to impede the Boston Marathon bombing investigation. Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov were originally charged on May 1, 2013 via criminal complaint.

Legion Baseball: Funkstown falls in opener at region tourney – herald-mail.com

Brooklawn Post 72 played anything but gracious host as it took advantage of nearly every opportunity to hang a 12-0 pasting on Funkstown in the first round of the American Legion Baseball Mid-Atlantic Regional.Brooklawn scored its first three runs without the benefit of a hit to set an early tone for the game.

The loss drops Funkstown into the double-elimination tournament’s losers’ bracket, where it will play West Seneca (N.Y.) Friday at 12:30 p.m. West Seneca dropped a 6-2 decision to Boyertown, Pa., in the second game of the eight-team tournament.

Brooklawn will face Boyertown in a winners’ bracket game Friday at 7 p.m.

Funkstown starter J.T. Root struggled through four hitless innings, allowing four runs with eight walks, while striking out five. Funkstown pitchers issued 12 walks in the game.

Post 211 managed just one hit in the game, a third-inning single by Enfield. Funkstown had only four baserunners.

Brooklawn starter Michael Shawaryn went six innings, allowing one hit and a walk, while striking out nine.

Brooklawn used five walks and a wild pitch to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

Three more arrests in Central Pa. \”Operation Last Call\” drug ring

 

 

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane and Blair County District Attorney Richard Consiglio today announced three additional arrests as part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of narcotics and prescription drugs throughout Blair County. Warrants are outstanding for the arrest of five other individuals.

Kane said the criminal charges filed last week are part of an extensive grand jury investigation and the latest phase of \”Operation Last Call,\” which last year resulted in the arrest of 14 cocaine suppliers, distributors and dealers. The investigation effectively dismantled the largest drug distribution network ever identified in Blair County.

This afternoon, Governor Christie announced that he signed 10 of the gun bills on his desk. Two of those bills are helpful to gun owners, six are neutral in their impact on gun rights as a result of amendments based on gun owner input, and two were opposed by gun owners.
