Captain Chuck Reed has resigned from his position as skipper of the Gloucester City schooner North Wind effective immediately. Reed has held the position since the boat was purchased in 2008.

We got ‘wind’ (pardon the pun, I couldn’t resist) of his departure on Thursday. A resident said that Reed told him, \”I was fired.\”

Asked about the rumor, Bob Bevan, a Gloucester City Sail director, an the mayor’s aide, said Reed submitted a letter of resignation. \”His captain’s license is up for renewal in January, and he has major back problems.\”

On 08/17 at 0111 Thomas Snow (19) of Willingboro was observed urinating on a building on Broadway and Market Street. He was charged with Lewdness.

On 08/18 at 1025 a resident of the 800 block of Bergen Street reported that unknown suspect(s) stole tools from the rear of their vehicle.

On 08/18 at 1817 a motor vehicle stop on King and Market Street led to the arrest of Joan Canard (47) of Audubon and Kevin Willmot (53) of Bellmawr. Both were arrested on outstanding warrants and Canard was found to be in possession of 1 bag of crack cocaine and a crack pipe.

Transnational Law Enforcement Efforts Helping Stem Transnational Crime

$\"Central$ Four leaders of the MS-13 gang were convicted in Atlanta recently in connection with a terrorizing violent crime spree. During the course of the investigation, we determined that many of their violent acts were directed by gang leadership in El Salvador and Honduras—a common occurrence uncovered in other investigations as well. This international criminal nexus of violent gangs is the focus of several FBI programs funded by the U.S. State Department through the Central American Regional Security Initiative (CARSI).

CARSI’s overall goal is to confront the dangers of organized crime, violent gangs, and drug trafficking in Central America and the U.S., and several domestic federal agencies participate in various facets of the initiative. The FBI, through its National Gang Task Force (NGTF), specifically supports six programs targeting the transnational threats posed by the MS-13 and 18th Street gangs.

Long associated with misfortune, Friday the 13^th figures this year to rank among the luckiest of days for dozens of Pennsylvania hunters.

Pennsylvania’s annual public drawing for elk-hunting licenses is scheduled to be held on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s headquarters in Harrisburg. As a result of the drawing, 86 hunters will be selected to purchase a coveted license for the state’s 2013 elk hunt.
