Michele Kent Provides Perspective on Long-Term Care at Panel NJ Spotlight Conference

Trenton, NJ- September 22, 2014- This month, LeadingAge New Jersey’s President and CEO Michele Kent presented at the NJ Spotlight Conference entitled \”The Future of Long-Term Care in New Jersey.\” Kent was a featured panelist on the topic of \”Future of Nursing Homes & Palliative Care.\”

\”Thanks to the many improvements in technology, in medicine, and in payment structure, many seniors may never have to enter a nursing home,\” stated Kent. \”This has fueled the development and exponential expansion of Home & Community Based Services (HCBS). These changes, innovations and shifts in public policy are, as Martha Stewart would say, ‘a good thing.’ At the same time, we must ensure the continuum of care, including a cadre of skilled nursing beds. We must keep nursing homes well funded, so they can provide high quality care. And with all the forthcoming changes in our healthcare delivery system, we must keep our eyes on grandma and grandpa, and be sure we are collectively doing all we can to provide the love and care which they have earned.\”
