WOODBURY NJ (February 17, 2015)–Brooks S. Griffin (DOB 9/22/85), of Atlantic City NJ pleaded guilty today (2/17) to possession of a handgun without a permit in Deptford NJ on 3/28/14.
In a plea agreement, Senior Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Paul Colangelo will recommend that Griffin be sentenced to five years in New Jersey state prison and be required to serve three years before becoming eligible for parole.
In his plea to the second-degree offense, Griffin acknowledged he had no permit for the gun, which was loaded.
Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson scheduled sentencing for May 15, allowing Griffin, a senior at Stockton College, time to complete his courses. He has a double major in business and forensic accounting, Griffin said.
