DOVER (June 1, 2015) – DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife Mosquito Control Section is asking for the public’s help in monitoring West Nile virus in Delaware by reporting the discovery of sick or dead wild birds that may have contracted the virus. West Nile virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne disease of considerable concern to human health and to owners of unvaccinated horses.

WINNERS (May 25, 2015)–The big reveal finally is here, and NESN’s Next Producer has been named. In a twist, judges Tom Werner and Brad Falchuk decided to split first place among two groups. Boston University’s Kaley Roberts, Christina Beiene and Brittney Badduke won the $20,000 prize for their film \”On the Mic,\” which told the story of Connor Lenahan, who has overcome challenges of physical disability to become \”the voice of Boston University.\” They have been named NESN’s Next Producers. But Werner and Falchuk decided to offer all four students an opportunity to work at NESN.
That meant Sacred Heart University’s Kieran McGirl, who produced the film \”The Rise of Johnny Hockey,\” which chronicles the journey of Calgary Flames winger Johnny Gaudreau, also was a winner. McGirl is an alumnus of Gloucester Catholic High School, Gloucester City NJ , and his film is about his Rams classmate Johnny Gaudreau.

CHEER-To Gloucester City High School softball team who beat Pitman High winning the NJSIAA
South Jersey Group I final. The Lions were relentless, scoring runs in every frame and taking home the title in five innings, 10-0.
JEER-Recently it was reported that someone stole 100 political campaign signs in Gloucester City valued at $900. The person or persons responsible who committed this crime are depriving candidates their rights to Freedom of Speech guaranteed to all of us in the First amendment of the constitution. How dare them; I hope they are caught and severely punished.
CHEER-To the Market Street WaWa and its management for the fine work done to the expansion of their parking lot.

Despite its small size and high population density, New Jersey offers a wide range of fishing opportunities, including the chance to catch \”trophy-size\” fish. Such fish are recognized in the Skillful Angler Recognition (Awards) Program and the State Record Fish Program.
The objective of the Record Fish Program is to increase the awareness of fishing opportunities for species that are regularly sought after and routinely found in the freshwaters or off the coast of New Jersey. Separate lists are maintained for freshwater and marine species, and in 2014 a new Spearfishing category was created for saltwater species.
