Gloucester Township playwright brings award-winning, human rights play to Philadelphia!

CNBNEWSNET–Based on the true story of a woman who fled Uganda to escape an honor killing by her father, Asylum reveals the treacherous landscape where human rights, women\’s rights and gay rights intersect and the consequence of not aligning is death. Complete with love amidst terror, and friendship despite fear, Cheril N. Clarke’s award-winning play will make its Philadelphia debut in Chestnut Hill at The Stagecrafters Theater July 24-26, 2015.

Clarke is a resident of Gloucester Township who not only writes novels, plays, and children\’s books, she has recently taken over as the director of communications for the township\’s Mayor\’s office. Clarke was recently appointed a Young Ambassador for the Philadelphia region of The Dramatists Guild, the professional organization for America’s playwrights. Her previous works have been well-received on stages in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Puerto Rico, where one was nominated for Best Play at the 6th Festival Del Tercer Amor.

On July 7, 2015. Age 82. Of Deptford. Formerly of Gloucester City.

\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0192ac4fe308970d-200wi\"Loving husband of 55 years to Elaine Porch (nee Rossi). Loving father of Maryann Porch, Rosemarie Froio (Mark) and Thomas E. Porch (Susanne). Cherished grandfather of Madeleine, Luc, Wade Thomas, Anna and Cara. Dear brother of Mary Siegel (Raphael) and the late Rose Wdzieczkowski (surv. Bruno).

Tom was a graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School class of 1950. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. Tom was the owner and operator of Porch & Robb Plumbing and Heating in Gloucester City, where he also served as the Plumbing Inspector for many years. He was a longtime member of the Gloucester City Lions Club and the Gloucester City Senior Citizens Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday morning, July 11, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City.

Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Church: 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, NJ 08030.

Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
