Ferguson Police Charge 17-Year-Old with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest

 ST. LOUIS, MO–On Sunday, August 9, 2015, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspects Trevion Hopson, 17 years of age, of the 8700 block of Boyce Place, St. Louis, MO 63136, for two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and one count of Resisting Arrest Detention/Stop by Fleeing. Hopson is being held on a $100,000 cash only bond. A photo of Hopson is attached. 

At approximately 12:00 a.m. on August 9, 2015, officers from the Ferguson Police Department were dispatched to a call for shots fired in the area of W. Florissant and Ferguson Avenue. Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol located a male victim, 22 years of age, on the parking lot of Family Dollar (9070 W. Florissant Road) suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered aid. The victim stated he was standing in the parking lot of the strip mall located in the 9100 block of W. Florissant Road, across from the McDonald’s, when he was struck in the arm by a gunshot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Gloucester Township Council Suppressed Citizen\’s Speech

During its July 27, 2015 public meeting, the Gloucester Township (Camden County) Council voted to end the public comment portion of the meeting for the stated reasons of one speaker\’s comments not having \”something to do with government\” and for not being sufficiently \”respectful to others.\”

The video of the meeting shows that resident Tom Crone, a Republican, began addressing the Democratic-controlled Council at 28:15 on the video. At about 41:40 Crone began speaking as spokesman for the Gloucester Township and Camden County Republican parties about \”an unwholesome and unsavory incident . . . that involved\” officials from Council Vice President Orlando Mercado\’s and his running mates\’ reelection campaign.

Mercado immediately challenged the propriety of Crone\’s comments as not being \”government related.\” When Crone defended his comments as being \”government related,\” Mercado stated that Crone had gone over his time limit for speaking. After Crone sought a ruling from Council President Glen Bianchini as to whether he should prevented from commenting further, Mercado made a motion to close the public portion of the meeting. That motion was seconded and ultimately passed by the Council.

N.J.S.A. 10:4-12 of the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA) requires municipal governing bodies and school boards to set aside a period of time at each meeting \”for public comment on any governmental or school district issue that a member of the public feels may be of concern to the residents of the municipality or school district.\” Crone\’s comments were offered during that portion of the meeting.

ATLANTIC OCEAN — The U.S. Postal Service commemorated the Coast Guard’s 225 years of service to the nation by creating a Forever Stamp to honor its role in protecting the security of the nation and advancing vital U.S. maritime interests. The stamp shows two icons of the Coast Guard: the cutter Eagle, a three-masted sailing ship known as \”America’s Tall Ship,\” and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, one of the Coast Guard’s rescue aircraft. Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City coordinated the photo opportunity with the Coast Guard Barque Eagle while underway in the Atlantic Ocean.

Terrell Haywood Sentenced For Unlawful Possession Of A Loaded Semiautomatic Handgun

\"00_HC_lawsuit_iStock_000010740091_800px\"NEWARK, N.J. – A previously convicted felon from Irvington, New Jersey, was sentenced today to 92 months in prison for unlawfully possessing a loaded semiautomatic handgun, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Terrell Haywood, 26, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge William J. Martini to an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Judge Martini imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.
