In celebration of the World Meeting of Families and Pope Francis’s visit to Philadelphia, this self-guided walking tour introduces you to several of the Museum’s most beautiful and moving images of Christian faith from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, with a particular emphasis on depictions of Saint Francis of Assisi (c. 1181–1226). Pope Francis is the first pope from the Americas and the first non-European pope in more than 1200 years. He chose his name in honor of Saint Francis, who renounced his wealth for a life of service. Like Saint Francis, Pope Francis has been commended for his commitment to the plight of those less fortunate. Download self-guided walking tour PDF >>
