Mark your calendars! Gov. Chris Christie made his first New Jersey public appearance in 51 days on Tuesday.

The governor has been a virtual phantom in the Garden State, especially since he officially announced his run for the White House in June. Since then, he has focused primarily on the town hall circuit in New Hampshire and other campaign activities.

In a story headlined, \”Republicans’ Comments Put Them on Other Side of Pope’s Visiting Message,\” the New York Times reports, \”Pope Francis has delivered an encyclical calling for increased action against climate change, denounced the role of global capitalism in increasing poverty, and enthusiastically supported the new nuclear accord with Iran, positions that have caused tensions in the Republican Party.\”

CNN, meanwhile, headlined a story, \”The Pope vs. the GOP,\” and reported that \”a large number of House and Senate Republicans want the leader of the Catholic Church to keep a lid on his progressive attitudes on climate change, immigration, guns and capitalism.\”

The Washington Post warned that \”Pope Francis visit puts Republicans on the defensive.\”

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced criminal charges have been filed against a Bucks County man following an investigation by the Office of Attorney General’s Environmental Crimes Unit.

David J. Gawronski, 26, of Hill Road, Sellersville, Bucks County, is charged with three counts of unlawful conduct in connection with alleged violations of the Solid Waste Management Act.

DIVISION OF FISH AND WILDLIFE AND STATE PARK SERVICE OFFER TIPS ON REDUCING RISKS FROM BEAR ENCOUNTERS FOLLOWING EVENTS AT RAMAPO MOUNTAIN STATE FOREST 

 TRENTON – The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection\’s Division of Fish and Wildlife and State Park Service are reminding residents of ways to reduce bear encounters and offering tips should they come within close range of black bears following a recent bear-human interaction at Ramapo Mountain State Forest.

 On Saturday afternoon, a pair of hikers was closely followed by a potentially aggressive black bear at the forest. The Division of Fish and Wildlife is investigating whether the bear came in contact with one of the hikers, a 7-year-old boy. Neither person was seriously injured.
