GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–On November 28, 2019. Age 89. (nee Nolan). Of Gloucester City. Loving wife of 59 years to the late Riley K. Sampson. Loving mother of Maryann Deacon, Patricia Sampson, Teresa Andrews, Betsy Sherrer (Karl), Kathleen Murchake and Gerald Sampson (Rose). Cherished grandmom of Nicole, William, Christina, Melissa, Dillon, Alyson, Jamie, Tommy, Madison, Julia and Leah. Predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters.

Pat was a graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School class of 1948. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary\’s R.C. Church.

William McWhorter, 46, of Philadelphia Murdered in Camden City

(CNBNewsnet)CAMDEN CITY, NJ (Nov. 30, 2019)–Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki reported a homicide that occurred in Camden on November 29, 2019.

The Camden County Police Department responded to reports of a man who appeared to be shot on the 700 block of Tulip Street at approximately 3:27 p.m. Officers located the victim, William McWhorter, 46, of Philadelphia, laying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

William McWhorter was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 3:47 p.m.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and there is no further information being released at this time. No arrests have been made at this time.

Helen M. Lewis, of Bellmawr, age 94

Helen M. Lewis (nee Nardone), on November 29, 2019, of Bellmawr, NJ; formerly of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Age 94.

Beloved wife of the late John F. Lewis, Sr. Devoted mother of Helen Marie Lewis (LeRoy Spurgeon), John F. Lewis, Mary Theresa Jablonski (Frank), and Jean Boyer (the late Chuck). Loving grandmother of Mary Theresa, Robert Francis, John Paul, Monique Danielle, Matthew Bryce, and the late William Daniel and great-grandmother of Mina Marie and Xavier William. Dear sister of Mary Grace Adamo, and the late William Nardone and Jean Pierog. Also survived by close friends James and Helen Miller, many nieces and nephews, and her faithful companion Herman.

Helen worked for the LARC School and St. John of God. She loved to cook, shop, and travel but most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family.

There will be a viewing from 8:45am to 9:45am Tuesday morning at St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation BVM Church, 601 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr.

Funeral Mass 10am at the Church.

Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
