FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES:
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and. now, he is no longer with us. Melania, my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife, Erika and family. Charlie, we love you!
Charles James Kirk was an American right-wing political activist, author, and media personality, known for being the co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA. He was shot in the neck from about 200 yards away. Some in the audience said the shot came from a nearby window
Kirk’s appearance at Utah Valley University was the first stop on the American Comeback Tour, a multi-campus series planned by Turning Point USA for the fall.[3] Kirk was traveling with private security, along with security provided by university police and local authorities.[4] Before the event, a petition circulated calling on the university not to allow him to appear and speak, although the university stated that they would permit him on campus in line with free speech and open discussion policies.
Kirk was taken to Utah Valley Hospital, which is about 3 miles southeast of the university in the neighboring city of Provo, Utah.[18] The Associated Press reported around 1:45 p.m. local time that Kirk was in “critical condition” at the hospital.[19] Reuters reported he had undergone surgery, citing a university spokesperson.[20] At 2:40 p.m. local time, President Donald Trump stated on his Truth Social account that Kirk had died.[2] Kirk’s death was also confirmed by his spokesperson.
