Two Suspects Arrested for Shootings in Camden and Lindenwold

Camden County, NJ – Two suspects have been apprehended in reference to separate shootings in Camden and Lindenwold, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, and Lindenwold Police Chief Michael McCarthy Jr.

On October 2, 2025, at approximately 11:02 p.m., officers from the Lindenwold Police Department responded to the 100 block of Blackwood-Clementon Road in Lindenwold in reference to a male shot.  Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim, identified as a 23-year-old male.  The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.  Detectives later learned the victim had been shot while being robbed.

During the investigation, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Lindenwold Police Department worked collaboratively to identify two 18-year-old Camden residents – Shamil Ceaser Jr. and Abdul Tatum – as suspects in the shooting.

Meanwhile, the Camden County Police Department Shooting Response Team was investigating a separate shooting that occurred in Camden on September 10, 2025.  In that incident, a residence on the 1200 block of Dupont Street had been struck by gunfire.  The residence was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.  During that investigation, detectives identified the same men as suspects.

Ceaser and Tatum were each charged on October 9, 2025, with 1st-degree Attempted Murder, 1st-degree Robbery, 2nd-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and 2nd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose for the Lindenwold shooting.  Additionally, both defendants were charged on October 14, 2025, with 2nd-degree Aggravated Assault, 2nd-degree Attempted Aggravated Assault, 2nd-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and 4th-degree Criminal Mischief for the Camden shooting.

Ceaser and Tatum were taken into custody in Camden on October 14, 2025, by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division.  Both were remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
