On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at approximately 10:13 PM, officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle crash involving an SUV and a sedan at the intersection of Berlin Cross Keys Road and Johnson Road in the Sicklerville section of Gloucester Township.

Upon arrival, officers found both vehicles heavily damaged, with all occupants injured. Fire department personnel assisted with extrication, and emergency medical crews from multiple agencies provided care at the scene. All three individuals were transported to a nearby hospital, where the driver of the SUV, Louis Bontya (Age 76), later died from his injuries. His wife, Christina Bontya (Age 75), suffered serious injuries but survived. The intersection remained closed for several hours while the Gloucester Township Police Department’s Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT) conducted a comprehensive on-scene investigation.

SCIT, working in coordination with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, continued to investigate the circumstances of the collision. As part of the investigation, the driver of the sedan, Marcus A. Young (Age 23) of Sicklerville, was charged on November 5, 2025, with Death by Auto and Assault by Auto. Additional information developed during the investigation was later reviewed by the Prosecutor’s Office, which approved upgrading the charges to Aggravated Manslaughter. Young was arrested on December 9, 2025, for the upgraded charges and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.

In addition to the criminal charges, Young was issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, and driving while intoxicated.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Gloucester Township Police Department reminds all motorists to stay alert, minimize distractions, obey traffic signals, adhere to posted speed limits, and never operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Impaired or careless driving puts every road user at risk. Safe decisions save lives.
