Truck Driver Sentenced to 6 years in Vehicular Homicide Case

Woodbury, NJ – Joseph Nyandwaro, 41, of Perland, Texas, was sentenced today to 6  years in State Prison by the Honorable William Ziegler, J.S.C., pursuant to a plea  agreement. Nyandwaro pled guilty to the charge in December.  

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court: 

Nyandwaro was driving a tractor trailer in Woolwich Township on June 22, 2025 when his vehicle collided with another tractor trailer. The second vehicle then  struck a barrier. Its driver was killed in the incident. With the assistance of the  trucking company, NJ State Troopers were able to locate Nyandwaro’s truck, which  appeared to have been painted to alter its appearance. Video recorded by the vehicle  depicted Nyandwaro crashing into the victim’s truck, sending the second vehicle  into the left concrete barrier. 

Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns thanked the New Jersey State Police for the  investigation that led to the guilty plea and sentencing.
