Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich joined Mayor Victor Carstarphen, Chief Jesse Flax, and members of the Camden Fire Department for the unveiling of CFD’s new $1.5 million Ferrara Tower Ladder Truck.
“This new, ladder truck will further enhance the department’s operational readiness, and its ability to serve the residents of the City of Camden,” said Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich. “The Board of Commissioners commend Mayor Carstarphen for his unwavering support of the Camden Fire Department, including $14 million invested in equipment and improvements to firehouses since 2022.”
Ladder 3 will be stationed at the North 27th Street Firehouse and is designed to support firefighting and rescue operations in multi-story buildings. The apparatus is equipped with an aerial ladder, and an extensive assortment of ground ladders that enable firefighters to reach upper floors for rescue, ventilation, and fire suppression efforts.
Formed in 1869, the Camden Fire Department is the first career fire department established in the State of New Jersey and is among the oldest professionally staffed departments in the United States.
