A former surgical technician was charged with stealing roughly $2.5 million worth of medical supplies from a hospital in Camden and selling them for profit, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.
Marci M. Staub, 44, of Galloway, NJ was charged on April 1, 2026, with 2nd-degree Theft, 2nd-degree Receiving Stolen Property, 2nd-degree Distribution of Prescription Legend Drugs and 2nd degree Impersonation of a Representative of a Medical Organization following a six-month investigation.
On October 2, 2025, a hospital in Camden reported that a large quantity of Medtronic Infuse bone graft devices and other medical supplies were missing from their supply room. The hospital also noted that the number of orders for devices had significantly risen from December 2024 through July 2025, even though they were not using more of the products than usual. Additionally, the hospital’s inventory did not match the amount of products documented as used. In total, the unaccounted devices and supplies were valued at approximately $2.5 million.
In December 2025, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office and hospital security personnel detained Staub as she attempted to leave work with medical supplies. Staub was terminated from her position at that time.During the investigation that followed, detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit reviewed surveillance footage from November to December 2025, showing Staub arriving at work with an empty bag and then leaving with it filled. Detectives also obtained financial records, which indicated Staub was making sales to a medical supply company and had received more than $427,000 in payments.
Detectives learned that Staub had been impersonating a medical supply vendor as she sold the stolen devices and supplies to a wholesale medical supply company in South Carolina. Stauwas remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
