Future site of Meadowbrook II

photo and commentary by Bill Cleary

The demolition work of the GAF plant and the Vanquard building at the intersection of Charles and Water Streets in Gloucester City has been completed.

City officials announced three years ago prior to the November election that once the site is cleared Beazer homes plans to build townhouses and condominiums on the ground, calling it Meadowbrook II. If that promise was made in good faith then work on this project should begin shortly.

Presently the company is constructing Meadowbrook 1 on the grounds of the old Starlite Drive In, Rt. 130 and Klemm Avenue, also in Gloucester City.

Chuckles by Jes

FAMILY

Three sisters, ages 92, 94 and 96, live in a house together. One night the 96-year-old draws a bath. She puts her foot in and pauses. She yells to the other sisters, \”Was I getting in or out of the bath?\”
The 94-year-old yells back, \”I don\’t know. I\’ll come up and see.\” She starts up the stairs and pauses \”Was I going up the stairs or down?\”
The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, \”I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood.\” She then yells, \”I\’ll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who\’s at the door.\”

Eyesore has been painted

photo and commentary by Bill Cleary

In August 2006 ClearysNotebook posted the following comment along with a photo about the rusted barrier at the foot of Monmouth Street, Gloucester City.

ENHANCING GLOUCESTER CITY’S IMAGE-If the Gloucester City Public Works Department still have their paintbrushes available it would be nice if they put a fresh coat of paint on the traffic barrier at the Little League Field at the foot of Monmouth Street.

Doesn\’t it make you wonder who is responsible for allowing this barrier to rust away? This is an eyesore. If your property looked this bad you would be cited by the Housing Authority.

I am happy to report the barrier as you can see has been painted. Once again I like to thank the City for taking care of the problem.

The torn/tattered American Flag replaced

The torn, tattered, faded flag that was flying at half-staff on Feb. 20 at Proprietors Park, King Street and the Delaware River, Gloucester City has been taken down and replaced.

A reporter for ClearysNotebook took a photo of the flag last week and posted it on the web site.

We like to compliment the City for taking such swift action to fix the problem.
