Congressman Van Drew: This Gas Tax Increase Is a Punch in the Gut to New Jersey Families

Rep. Van Drew calls on Governor Murphy and Governor-elect Sherrill to reverse the upcoming gas tax hike. Washington, DC –Today, Congressman Van Drew released the following statement regarding the state’s outrageous gas tax hike to nearly 50 cents per gallon beginning January 1st.”New Jersey families are getting hit from every direction,” said Congressman Van Drew. “Thanks to state leadership, utility bills are up, delivery fees are up, and now they are raising the gas tax again. We already have one of the highest gas taxes in America. Raising it is the last thing working people need. This is a direct result of the policies that Governor Murphy signed into law, which make these tax hikes more likely year after year. They refuse to control their spending, so instead, they stick the bill on hardworking families. Let me be clear: talking about affordability means nothing if you stay silent when the state keeps raising taxes. Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill and Governor Murphy must reverse this hike immediately. People are tired of being punished for the state’s own failures, especially when the rest of the country is seeing gas prices go down.”

Rowan’s Troiano, Cleary, Caputo, Schlotterbeck and Ferreira Earn All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, MO – Rowan’s Johnny Troiano and Ryan Cleary head the group of five Profs who have been named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region IV Men’s Soccer Team, as the duo received first-team honors. Davide Caputo and Evan Schlotterbeck were chosen to the Second Team with Greg Ferreira being selected to the Third Team.

Troiano and Cleary are now nominees for the All-America Team, which will be announced on December 4.

Troiano (Hazlet, NJ), the two-time NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, earns All-Region First Team honors for the third consecutive season. He was the NJAC’s leading scorer with 19 goals and 43 points while also claiming a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the third time. The senior closed out his career with 131 points (55 goals, 21 assists) to rank fourth on Rowan’s all-time scoring list.

Cleary (Turnersville, NJ)  was chosen as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year and picks up his third straight All-Region honor, with back-to-back seasons on the First Team. He keyed Rowan’s defense, which allowed just 1.08 goals and had five shutouts in the final six matches. An All-NJAC selection in all four seasons, Cleary contributed offensively this year with two goals and a team-high eight assists.

Caputo (Brick, NJ) makes his third consecutive appearance on the All-Region Second Team. The senior was the Profs’ second leading scorer this year with four goals and six assists, including a gamewinner against #22 Franklin & Marshall.

A graduate transfer, Schlotterbeck (Cherry Hill, NJ)made an impact in his first season at Rowan. He scored four goals, including one gamewinner, while starting all 25 matches. It marks his second selection on the All-Region squad as he earned the recognition in 2024 while at Muhlenberg.

Ferreira (Gladstone, NJ) makes his first appearance on the All-Region Team. The junior co-captain, who is a two-time selection to the All-NJAC First Team, played a key role in the Profs’ stingy defense, that recorded nine shutouts. He also contributed one assist on the season for Rowan.

Rowan reached the NCAA Sweet 16 while winning its second straight NJAC Championship. The Profs (17-4-4) went without a loss for 12 consecutive matches before the season came to an end in the NCAA Third Round against eventual Final Four team Emory.

Running a small business in Gloucester City means juggling many roles, owner, marketer, customer liaison, and sometimes even accountant. Some entrepreneurs partner with professionals like a small business accountant to handle finances, freeing up time to focus on growing their brand. But visibility isn’t just about dollars and cents; it’s about being seen, trusted, and remembered by local customers. If your business could use a boost, here are actionable tips to help small businesses in Gloucester City shine without needing a huge budget.

Why Visibility Matters Locally

Before diving into strategies, it helps to understand why visibility is essential, especially in tight-knit communities like ours:

  • Most customers start locally: They search for “near me,” see what friends recommend, or just walk around and notice signage.
  • Trust comes from consistency: Businesses that appear regularly, online, in person, in their neighborhoods, feel more reliable.
  • Word-of-mouth is powerful: A satisfied local customer can bring in several others; reputation spreads fast in smaller communities.

With that in mind, here are ways to improve visibility effectively.
