CHEER–To \”The Amazing Brookers\” for winning the 2013 American Legion World Series (ALWS). In order to advance to the World Series they also had to win the state title and the mid-Atlantic region title. Since 1960, Brooklawn Post 72 has made 15 appearances in the ALWS, was runner-up in 1984 and 2012, and was World Series champion in 1991 and 2001.

CHEERS–NJ Senate Bill 2368, introduced earlier this year by Senator Michael J. Doherty, and Senator Stephen M. Sweeney, would prevent shore municipalities that accept federal or state aid to replenish their beaches damaged by storms from collecting beach fees, imposed through the sale of beach tags or otherwise. Further, municipalities accepting governmental beach replenishment aid for storm-damaged beaches would be required to provide free public toilet facilities during the summer tourism period, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. New Jersey is the only state with beach fees. Contact your state legislator and tell them to support Senate Bill 2368.

CHEER-Twenty-six wooden angles representing the 20 children and six adults killed on December 14 at the elementary school in Newton, Connecticut were erected in their honor at old Saint Mary’s Cemetery on Market Street, Gloucester City. Joe Carlino, owner of Gloucester Transmission Service, along with his employees, built and painted the angels. A fitting memorial and tribute to those who lost their lives in this horrifying tragedy. To those who made the memorial kudos for trying to make a difference.
