The City of Camden, and the Camden County Improvement Authority (CCIA) are partnering to host a First-Time Homebuyer Information Session on SaturdayMarch21st, at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Camden. This event is designed for Camden City residents interested in purchasing their first home! Attendees will learn about newly increased down payment assistance opportunities available through state and city programs, along with guidance on the homebuying process and how to qualify for available funding.

The program will begin with a continental breakfast and welcome remarks from Camden City Mayor Victor Carstarphen and Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. Guest speakers will also share insights on key steps in the homebuying journey, including the homebuyer program, the mortgage process, working with realtors, and common legal considerations. The celebration continues with the Women’s History Month Keynote, “An Open Love Letter,” at 5 PM in the Campus Center MPR. During this evening address, Oliver will share reflections on love, vulnerability, representation, and the importance of choosing oneself, offering an inspiring message about redefining success and self-worth. Commissioner Director Cappelli to read to pre-k students in celebration of Read Across America

On March 4, Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. will join Mayor Victor Carstarphen, and State District Superintendent Alfonso Llano Jr. to read to pre-k students at 11 a.m. at Martha F. Wilson Early Childhood Development Center, 1602 Pine Street, Camden in celebration of ‘Read Across America’.

“Strong literacy skills are essential for our children’s long-term development and academic success,” said Commissioner Director Cappelli. “Read Across America is an opportunity to remind our young people that in our increasingly digital world, there is still incredible value in the written word.”
