Stop & Shop Donates $31,000 to The Community FoodBank of New Jersey

Area Food Banks to Commemorate 311 First Downs Recorded By New York Giants During the 2019 Season

Purchase, NY (January 9, 2020) – Stop & Shop, the official supermarket of the New York Giants, is proud to announce a $31,100 donation to The Community FoodBank of New Jersey and seven other food banks across the tri-state area. A contribution that reflects their pre-season commitment to donate$100 for each first down recorded by the Giants during the 2019 season. The Giants final season total was 311 first downs.

The $31,100 will be divided among 8 of Stop & Shop’s regional food bank partners –  The Community FoodBank of NJ, Fulfill, The Food Bank for New York City, Feeding Westchester, Long Island Cares, Island Harvest, and The Connecticut Food Bank. The food banks will use the donation to fight hunger in their local communities – supporting nutrition programs and providing resources to those in need.

“Stop & Shop has a longstanding history of giving back to the communities we serve with a focus on fighting hunger,” said Bob Yager, SVP of Sales and Operations for Stop & Shop. “This donation underscores Stop & Shop and the Giants’ mutual commitment to assisting food banks in New Jersey, New York City, Westchester, Connecticut and on Long Island.”

The first down donation is just one of the ways the Giants and Stop & Shop have worked together to fight hunger.  Earlier this year, and every season, Stop & Shop sponsors the Giants’ annual food drive at MetLife Stadium, as well as donates thousands of turkeys alongside the Giants as part of the supermarket’s annual Turkey Express Program.

Trump\’s Religious Liberty Reforms

January 17, 2020

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on

public policy reforms issued by the Trump administration on January 16

:

The public policy reforms governing religious liberty issued by the Trump administration are compelling and much needed.  President Trump has proven once again that he is the most religion-friendly president in the modern era.

The Trump administration has provided a much-needed corrective to the draconian directives promulgated by the previous administration: the role of religious liberty under President Obama was diminished to such an extent that it all but neutered the free exercise of religion in public policy programs. Trump has reversed this condition, awarding religious liberty the kind of breathing room it deserves, both morally and legally.

There are three areas of public policy affecting religious liberty that have been targeted for reform by the Trump administration: faith-based programs; higher education; and religious institutions.

While the directives that have been issued are tailored to each of these three sectors, there are two elements that are common to all of them: religious institutions will not be afforded a second-class status any longer and their autonomy will be protected.

The Trump administration wants to end the invidious practices of discriminating against religious institutions and associations that were instituted by the Obama administration. Any institution that does not treat religious institutions as the equal of secular institutions will be faced with the prospect of having federal funds terminated.

Religious autonomy is another feature of these reforms. For instance, the state cannot force religious associations to jettison their religious character as a condition of federal aid. Regrettably, this has been done, the effect of which has been to secularize these entities. What is the sense of having a religious institution if it cannot freely exercise its religious prerogatives?

In effect, the Trump administration is going to continue its efforts to put an end to the animus against religious institutions that characterized the Obama administration.

As is customary, the public is being given 30 days to comment on these proposals. I will submit a detailed account of the Catholic League\’s problems with the Obama administration in its handling of faith-based programs, and the need for the kinds of reforms as outlined in the new directives. We will make public our input.

For designer watches, they usually have the same aesthetic design and procedure as the luxury watches. Although these watches are generally a little cheaper than luxury watches, they still cost more than popular brands.

How to Find Discount Luxury and Designer Watches

First of all, find online discount luxury watches and designer watches. You will find that the prices of these products are usually cheaper than brick and mortar stores. The advent of e-commerce allows online stores to buy products like watches from manufacturers. Online websites do not need to have inventory and hire workforce. Generally, products like watches are 20% to 30% cheaper online than brick and mortar stores.

Discounted watches preferences

Another way to find discount watches is to look for discount websites. Discount websites usually feature several luxury watches and designer watch vendors on their website. Because many vendors on this website are trying to sell, they usually make different offers and promotions. Discounts can vary and so you have to find the best price.

Another way to find discount luxury watches and designer watches is to research the current inventory. Some manufacturers usually change designs and offerings to get past their competitors. Then some older designs will be offered at a discount.

Always keep in mind that luxury watches and designer watches are a bit expensive, if you find an offer that looks very familiar, cut it off. Remember that if the offer is not correct then it is. Similarly, you need to research the online vendor before making a purchase.

Find the maximum number of impressions to make sure you trust your money only at popular online stores. If you have the best defense against online fraudsters, you need to spend your hard earned money wisely and do your research. It is way to show your style to people and to make their attraction fantastic so trust on the watches are now available and with the discounted rates and prices.

Community Reformers Call on DPRA Members to Investigate Questionable Land Dealings

CAMDEN CITY, NJ (January 17, 2020)(Gloucestercitynews.net)-

-Community reformers jammed the Delaware River Port Authority meeting on Wednesday calling on the governors of New Jersey and Pennsylvania

to investigate the connection of the DRPA board members with political

power broker George Norcross III.

The

Philadelphia Inquire

r reported the progressive political groups specifically cited the two parcels of land that the agency sold or optioned for development projects in Camden.

“It is time for a full accounting of the facts and to clean house in an agency that has acted for too long as a tool of special interests,\” wrote leaders of the two groups, New Jersey Working Families and Pennsylvania Working Families, in a letter addressed to Govs. Phil Murphy and Tom Wolf on Wednesday.

The groups also made that request in person Wednesday morning, when about a dozen activists filed into the DRPA’s 11th-floor conference room in Camden.

Seven of them addressed the agency’s board, composed of members appointed by the governors of both states.

“There are people on the DRPA board, certainly on the New Jersey side … with very, very strong political connections and financial connections to a political machine that, in our opinion, prioritizes the lining of its own pockets and corporate interests over the interests of the public dollar and of public opinion,” said Sue Altman, state director of New Jersey Working Families.

The letter follows

an Inquirer article

, published last month, that detailed how South Jersey political power broker George E. Norcross III came to acquire a three-acre parking lot near the Camden waterfront. Both the DRPA and the Camden Redevelopment Agency held rights to the land, which was appraised at $2.3 million.

The DRPA’s interest in the land was appraised at $800,000, and in 2016 the agency sold the parcel for that amount to Liberty Property Trust, the onetime developer of a major waterfront project fueled by a controversial state tax-credit program. Liberty later sold the land to Norcross and his business partners for $350,000 according to

The Inquirer.

January 17, 2020)–N

ew Jersey Working Families State Director Sue Altman (photo)released the following statement in response to yesterday’s task force report:

“The task force’s new report unearthed a staggering level of corruption unprecedented in New Jersey history. George Norcross,

his brothers and his companies conspired to cheat taxpayers of hundreds of millions of dollars – and they did it with the full cooperation of the Christie administration and legislative leaders.

TerrAscend Issued Permit to Grow Medical Marijuana

Eighth Alternative Treatment Center Statewide Permitted to Grow

Boonton Township NJ

–The New Jersey Department of Health today issued a permit to TerrAscend in Boonton Township to begin growing medical marijuana. The permit was issued after a comprehensive review including several site inspections, background checks of

its corporate officers and a review of its security operations and cultivation facility.

“The Department is committed to providing greater access to this therapy for patients,” said New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli.  “TerrAscend is the fourth Alternative Treatment Center to receive a permit to grow product in the northern region of the state.”

After product has been tested by the state laboratory and the dispensary is operational and inspected by the Medical Marijuana Program (MMP), a second permit will be issued to operate and dispense as an Alternative Treatment Centers (ATC). TerrAscend will operate their dispensary in Phillipsburg.

Once TerrAscend receives its permit to dispense, the MMP will notify the patients and caregivers by email of the opening date.

TerrAscend officials hope the dispensary is permitted and able to begin dispensing medical marijuana to registered patients and caregivers in the spring.

There are seven Alternative Treatment Centers currently dispensing medical marijuana: Greenleaf Compassion Center of Montclair, Compassionate Care Foundation of Egg Harbor, Garden State Dispensary of Woodbridge and Union Township, Breakwater Alternative Treatment Center of Cranbury, Curaleaf NJ, Inc. in Bellmawr, Harmony Dispensary in Secaucus and Rise in Paterson.
