Born in South Carolina. James is survived by his daughters, Patricia Nickelson, Shaneet Samuel. He was predeceased by his daughter, Tonya Brown in July of 2025. James worked as a welder in Camden, NJ and Philadelphia, PA.

Philadelphia’s Holiday Haunted House Returns to Historic Manayunk

Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia’s scariest haunted attraction is opening its doors for a special two-night only exclusive holiday haunted house. Lincoln Mill Haunted House at 4100 Main Street in Manayunk presents the city’s first and only Christmastime haunt with A Twisted Christmas, on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. For a Twisted Christmas, the evil mill owner Viktor Kane, who now haunts the mill, hallucinated things happening around the winter holiday time in the 1930s.  He hallucinated his workers mutating into twisted elves and sinister winter creatures.  In his head, the mill has transformed into a nightmarish winter wonderland. Guests will descend down to the mill’s basement via a freight elevator and will have to navigate through Viktor’s dark winter wonderland. Warning: This event features over 50 scare-actors and is intended to be very scary. Tickets are $30 a person for general admission and $23 for a special group rate. OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING – 11/30/2025

The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at approximately 4:11 AM in the 25th Police District.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 9XX W. Erie Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 35-year-old Hispanic female, identified as Christina Miranda, holding a firearm to the right side of her head.

Officers issued multiple verbal commands ordering her to drop the weapon. Miranda did not comply to these commands. One officer deployed a Taser, which struck Miranda but had no effect. Miranda then fled across Erie Avenue, at which time she pointed the firearm in the direction of the officers.

Officer-Involved Shooting

The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at approximately 4:11 AM in the 25th Police District.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 9XX W. Erie Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 35-year-old Hispanic female holding a firearm to the right side of her head.

Officers issued multiple verbal commands ordering her to drop the weapon. The female did not comply to these commands. One officer deployed a Taser, which struck the female but had no effect. The female then fled across Erie Avenue, at which time she pointed the firearm in the direction of the officers.

In response, Officer #1 and Officer #2 discharged their duty weapons, striking the female multiple times. She fell to the ground and dropped her firearm. Officers transported her to Temple University Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

A firearm was recovered at the scene – a .22 caliber Kel-Tec handgun with an obliterated serial number, loaded with one round in the chamber and nineteen rounds in the magazine. 

The female is currently charged with Aggravated Assault on Police and Violations of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA). 

No officers or other civilians were injured. 

Body-Worn Cameras were activated for the duration of the encounter.

This investigation remains in its preliminary stages and is under review by the PPD’s Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Unit (OISI), PPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB), and by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office (DAO).

Per Departmental policy, the discharging officers have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

Fishtown Freeze Turns Frankford Ave into Winter Wonderland

Philadelphia Police Report Overnight Incident

The following information is preliminary and subject to change. Updates will be provided as they become available.

At approximately 2:00 am, a shooting occurred in the 9th District in the area of the 8XX block of Spring Garden Street. A 24-year-old male was struck in the upper arm area while on the highway. He was transported to Nazareth Hospital by private vehicle at 7:19 a.m., where he was listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the Shooting Investigation Group.

$20,000 REWARD – Philadelphia Man Shot, Killed; Police Seek Suspect

PHILADELPHIA — A 46-year-old Philadelphia man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning inside a home in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia, and authorities are now seeking 19-year-old Elijah Jones in connection with the homicide.

Police identified the victim as Reginald H. Bates of Philadelphia.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded to a radio call reporting a “Person with a gun / Shooting” at the 2100 block of N. 32nd Street at approximately 12:26 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Bates inside the property, unresponsive on the kitchen floor with gunshot wounds to the chest.
