Ingram’s Thorofare Bridge Set to Close Two Nights, January 28-29

AVALON, NJ –On Tuesday night and Wednesday night, January 28th and 29th 2020, the Ingram’s Thorofare Bridge will be closed between the hours of 7:00pm thru 5:00am due to ongoing construction. As a result,

Avalon Boulevard (C.R. 601) will be closed to thru traffic during these hours. The roadway and bridge will re-open after those hours and remain open thereafter.

Motorists heading south on Route 9 and wishing to access Avalon via Avalon Boulevard will be required to continue heading south along Route 9 until they arrive at the Stone Harbor Boulevard intersection (C.R. 657). They will then be directed east along Stone Harbor Boulevard/ 96th Street to Third Avenue (C.R. 619) in Stone Harbor. They will then be directed north along C.R. 619 to Avalon. Traffic exiting the Garden State Parkway at exit 13 and wishing to head east along Avalon Boulevard will be directed west to Route 9 to follow the same detour.

Motorists heading north along Route 9 wishing to access Avalon via Avalon Boulevard will be directed to head east at the Stone Harbor Boulevard intersection. Once in Stone Harbor, motorists will be directed north along Third Avenue (C.R. 619) toward Avalon. Traffic on the barrier islands wishing to utilize Avalon Boulevard to access the Garden State Parkway or Route 9 will be directed south on C.R. 619 to 96th Street, where they will be directed west along Stone Harbor Boulevard to Route 9 and the Parkway.

Local traffic will be permitted to access Avalon Boulevard up to the Ingram’s Thorofare Bridge from either side, but will not be permitted to cross the bridge. Please plan accordingly and obey all traffic control devices and speed limits.

Report details 12 policy recommendations for advancing 171 miles of trails

across the Circuit’s nine-county region

PHILADELPHIA

(Jan. 23, 2020) – Today, in a critical step forward for the continued development of the region’s growing Circuit Trails multi-use trail network, the Circuit Trails Coalition released its report,

“Moving the Circuit Trails Forward to Reach 500 Miles by 2025.”

The report includes 12 policy recommendations to advance the progression of 171 miles of trail that are currently funded or planned, in order to reach an ambitious interim goal of developing 500 miles of trail by 2025.

These policy recommendations are designed to accelerate trail development in a meaningful way in order to stay on track to complete the eventual 800-plus mile trail network by 2040, which is the timeline defined by the region’s long-range transportation infrastructure plan. Currently, more than 330 miles of trails in the network’s nine-county region in Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey are complete.

“Our goal to complete the Circuit Trails network by 2040 is not a pipe dream. We know it can be accomplished, and this plan maps out the steps that our regional partners, including public agencies and municipalities, must act on for us to collectively reach the finish line on schedule,” said Sarah Clark Stuart, chair of the Circuit Trails Coalition. “For more than a year, our coalition members dug in to identify the trail opportunities that are most ripe and realistic for completion. Now, we need the support and action of key public agencies and public officials to make it a reality,” she said.

The report’s policy recommendations are tailored to the various key entities that impact the Circuit Trails: the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), key state agencies, counties and the Circuit Trails Coalition. The recommendations are aimed at eliminating identified obstacles at state, county, and regional levels to advance the construction of more miles of Circuit Trails. The recommendations are as follows:

For the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC)

Create a right-of-way acquisition team to enable trail projects to move expeditiously past feasibility into engineering, design and construction.

Support creation of multi-municipal authorities to accelerate trail development.

Enhance dedicated capacity for trail planning and development by procuring consultant services on behalf of municipalities or counties.

For Counties

Adopt best practices to advance Circuit Trails development, including full-time employees to manage trail planning and development projects and county leadership support of significant trail corridors.

For the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

Enhance coordination of Circuit trail projects with state road projects with a full-time, district-level Bicycle-Pedestrian Coordinator.

For the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT)

Create new positions to accelerate New Jersey trail projects.

Incorporate trail projects into the Complete Streets checklist and better coordinate trail development with the highway planning process.

Use existing federal funding sources for design of trails and increase the maximum size of Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program funding for trail construction awards.

For the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)

Enhance staffing and capacity for NJDEP’s Recreational Trails Program.

Create a larger “Trail Planning, Design and Construction Fund” for NJ Circuit Trails Projects.

For the Circuit Trails Coalition

Convene stakeholder working groups or task forces around specific trail segments.

Prioritize particular trails and identify critical gaps.

“Trails on the Circuit connect our urban, suburban, and rural communities across nine counties and two states; offer a place for active recreation and transportation; bring us closer to our waterways; and link our region’s destinations together. With the support of our region’s key players, and the many trail enthusiasts who advocate for and use the Circuit Trails, a completed network of more than 800 miles of trails is not just a vision, but a reality we can collectively achieve,” said Clark Stuart.

The Circuit Trails Coalition is comprised of more than 60 non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with 25 state and local agencies and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission to promote Circuit Trails development, marketing it to the general public and highlighting the Circuit Trails multiple benefits. Closures necessary for guiderail repairs and drainage inspection

– New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the overnight closure and detour of Route 42 northbound Exit 1B to I-295 northbound tonight for construction barrier repairs and a drainage culvert inspection.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, January 24 until 8 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, January 25, NJDOT contractor, Conti Enterprises, Inc., is scheduled to close and detour Route 42 northbound Exit 1B to I-295 northbound to allow crews to repair construction barrier and inspect a drainage culvert.  The following signed detour will be in place overnight:

Route 42 northbound Exit 1B ramp to I-295 northbound detour:

Motorists traveling on Route 42 northbound will be directed to continue onto I-76 westbound

Take I-76 westbound to Exit 2/I-676 northbound

Take I-676 northbound to Exit 1/Collings Road

Turn right onto Collings Road

Turn left onto I-676 southbound which becomes I-76 eastbound

Take I-76 eastbound to Exit 1B/I-295 northbound

The work is part of the $900 million Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. The Direct Connection project has been divided into four separate construction contracts, with completion of the fourth and final contract expected in the fall of 2024. We get up early, prepare for the day ahead, head on to school or work, take some few breaks, get to work again, before we finally go home and drag ourselves to bed so we can rest and prepare to do the same routine the following day. Of course, leading a healthy life is necessary but don’t you think following a strict routine could be monotonous and boring at some point?

This is why we seek adventure. We try to find ways to do unique and once-in-a-lifetime experiences to tick off that bucket list. We feel a different sense of accomplishment if we’re able to do something out of the box, something that we once thought of as unachievable.

If you’re prepared to take the big leap of experiencing the adventure outdoors, one of the many little thrillers to get you started is the white water rafting. This is a kind of water sport where you get to dodge whirlpools and rocks while rushing down a wild rapid river on board a rubber boat. Motorized trips therefore are more convenient options. Guests can enjoy a full canyon trip in just seven days. Most motorized rafts run on 30 horsepower, averaging about 8 mph. That’s a far cry from the 4mph average speed you get when taking the non-motorized options.

Another consideration you need to note are the canyon trip terms. A full canyon trip runs between 188 and 280 river miles. This trip allows you to experience the most amazing side hikes and the biggest rapids in the river. The upper canyon trip, on the other hand, runs about 87-89 miles. You need to be physically prepared for this trip since this will involve intense hiking

out of the Grand Canyon. Trails are rocky and steep and offers very little shade along the way. This is ideal only for the experienced hikers.

The cost is also one thing to check out for a Grand Canyon whitewater rafting adventure. Depending on the type of trip you want, you have several options to consider: from the transportation to lodging, and even the cost of the camping gears. The final cost will generally vary. It is always wise to do your research before you book for that Grand Canyon adventure.

PINE HILL POLICE ALERT: New Freedom Road Project Begun; Expected to Last 10 Weeks

WATSONTOWN-NEW FREEDOM ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BEGINS MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 2020.  EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR 10 WEEKS

PINE HILL, NJ (January 20, 2020)–The Watsontown-New Freedom Road Project is set to begin on Monday, January 20th. It will

include milling, paving and drainage with construction to be set from 7AM-4PM Monday thru Friday.

The length of the project is approximately 10 weeks. The roadway will be opened to allow for normal traffic at approximately 4PM each day. Motorists are asked to use caution in these areas, and note that only local traffic will be allowed on Watsontown-New Freedom Road during construction times.

During the construction times, a detour will be utilized on Watsontown-New Freedom Road between Berlin-Clementon Road and Berlin Cross Keys Road in the Boroughs of Pine Hill and Berlin. Between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm northbound traffic (from Winslow) on Watsontown-New Freedom Road will be detoured down Cross Keys Road towards the White Horse Pike.

No traffic from Winslow towards Clementon will be allowed (LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY). The detour will go westbound on the White Horse Pike, then westbound on Berlin Clementon Road.

Residents of New Freedom Road, Carriage Stop, New Freedom Village will have full access in both directions on Watsontown New Freedom Rd.

Naturally, there’s plenty to do in the cities too, but Canada boasts some of the world’s most beautiful and striking landscapes. Like Iceland, Norway offers a dark and chilly but still beautiful experience if you’re looking for somewhere to head in winter. Norway is more famous for its mid-spring months than its winters, but if you’re a poetic soul, this gorgeous country’s tundras and fjords will give you plenty of food for thought when the dark sets in. Of course, since Norway gets plenty of snow, you’ll also find lots of skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts in Norway.

9. Japan

During the winter months, most of Japan’s massive tourist destinations find themselves completely deserted, so winter is the perfect time to head over to Japan and do a spot of sightseeing. None of these destinations lose any of their characteristic beauty or historical significance just for having a little snow on them, so what have you got to lose? CAPE MAY COUNTY: Route 47/S Delsea Drive to be closed and detoured for priority roadway repair beginning next week

Closure in place until June to repair sinkholes undermining the road

LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ–(January 17, 2020)–New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced that Route 47/ S Delsea Drive will be closed and detoured beginning Monday for priority roadway repairs in Middle Township, Cape May County.

Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, January 20, NJDOT’s contractor Mount Construction is scheduled to close and detour Route 47 in both directions between Indian Trail Road and Springers Mill Road for priority repairs to a culvert over Dias Creek resulting in sinkholes that are compromising the roadway. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 2020.

Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses. The following signed detour will be in place throughout the duration of the project:

Route 47 Northbound Detour:

 Motorists wishing to continue on Route 47 northbound will be instructed to turn right onto Indian Trail Road

 Turn left onto Route 9 north

 Turn left onto W. Hand Avenue

 Turn right back onto Route 47/S. Delsea Drive
