TURKEY DAY GAME-Rams v. Lions, Final 30-22

The Lions and Rams were tied 14-14 with 3 minutes left on the clock before the first half game to and end. But with that much time left the Rams took off and score another TD. Instead of kicking a FG the Rams ran the ball and got two more points. As the half ended the score was 22-14. The Lions had a couple of changes in the second half but just couldn\’t put it away. The final score was Rams 30 Lions 22.

A Fun Time on The Northwind

The Gilligan Island Crew-Enjoying a ride this past summer on the Gloucester Sail schooner The Northwind, are from left to right, Bill \”Wibby\” Yeager aka The Skipper, Joe Miller aka Gilligan, Frank \”Reds\” Grandizio, The Professor and Mike Gurchick who was just told by Reds he could choose to be either The Movie Star or Maryann.

The four \”Geezers\” are members of the BREAKFAST CLUB which meets this Saturday, November 28^th at the Dining Car Depot, Railroad and Monmouth Street, at 9 AM. The last guy there picks up the tab.

I AM THANKFUL for the wife who says it\’s hot dogs tonight, because she is home with $\"113495i3evnam5va\"$ me, and not out with someone else.

…for the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

…for the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes, because it means she is at home, not on the streets.

…for the taxes I pay, because it means I am employed.

…for the mess to clean after a party, because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

…for the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat.

…for my shadow that watches me work, because it means I am out in the sunshine.

…for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home.

…for the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation.

(Eric) Bartholomew, Regina L. Varelli and Anthony F. (April) Varelli, Jr. Loving grandfather of Serena, Erica, Richard, Tyler, Toby, Aubrie and two on the way. Anthony was a 1976 graduate of West Deptford High School. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and Texas Hold’ Em Poker.

Hornback Named to AVCA Division II All-East Region Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Holy Family University outside hitter Katie Hornback (so. Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) was named to the 2009 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II All-East Region team on Tuesday.

Hornback is the on the team for the second time in her career. Last season, she was tabbed as an honorable mention selection. She is the only player to make the team from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

Earlier this year, she was named to the All-CACC second team and to the CACC All-Tournament team.

Hornback led the Tigers in kills (340) and service aces (55). She finished third in the CACC in service aces and seventh in service aces per set (0.43). At Holy Family, She is fourth on the single season kills list and tied for seventh on the single season service aces list. After two years, Hornback second in school history in kills (652) and tied for eighth in career service aces (90).
Holy Family ended its season with an overall record of 14-22. The Tigers qualified for the CACC Championship Tournament for the third season in a row.

GCPD Issue Holiday Plea, \”Don\’t Drink & Drive\”

With the Holiday season approaching The Gloucester City Police Department $\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0115713bfdcc970c-120wi\"$ wants to remind everyone to please be careful and to use your head especially when it comes to consuming alcoholic beverages. We are going to step up enforcement this season with DUI patrols and undercover officers going into the local establishments to see that the rules are being followed by the consumers as well as the owners of the establishment.

Those individuals under the age of 21 will be arrested and charged if they enter any licensed establishment to consume or attempt to consume alcoholic beverages. There is a mandatory loss of driving privileges that will be applied to those charged and convicted of entering for the purpose of purchasing alcoholic beverages, using a false identification card, or consuming in a licensed establishment.

Pennsylvania Game Commission:FIRST-DAY BEAR HARVEST RANKS SECOND

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission officials today announced that hunters started the 2009 black bear season by taking a preliminary harvest of 1,897 black bears in 50 counties on the first day of the three-day statewide bear season.

The 2009 first-day preliminary harvest compares with 1,725 in 2008; 1,005 in 2007; 1,461 in 2006; 2,026 in 2005; 1,573 in 2004; 1,454 in 2003;1,348 2002; 1,812 in 2001; and 1,691 in 2000.

The top 10 bears processed at check stations on Monday all had estimated live weights that exceeded 550 pounds. Terence J. Burkhardt, of Jim Thorpe, harvested the largest bear, which was a male that weighed in at 654 pounds (actual live weight). The bear was taken in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, at 4:35 p.m.
