Councilman Lou DiAngelo said the Bellmawr Purple Eagles 2009 season is coming to an end.

In a separate interview, Purple Eagles President Steve Hagerty said most of the teams have a chance to make the post-season.

In his Mayor’s Report, Mayor Frank Filipek Sr. also congratulated the EMTs, adding the Borough is preparing for the 2009 edition of Christmas In the Park, to be held December 11-13.

If Obama can deny that a charge is a tax even when it’s collected by the IRS and identified as a \”tax\” in the legislation creating it, he surely sees nothing tax-like in the money people are required to spend if they want to avoid that charge. Yet forcing people to buy insurance they do not want so their premiums can subsidize other people’s health care looks a lot like a tax-funded welfare program, even if the money does not flow through the public treasury.

Furthermore, when businesses buy government-required health insurance or pay a penalty for failing to do so, that money comes at the expense of employee compensation.

Beginning in November, 2006, anglers who fish the winter trout stocked lakes could forward to catching much larger trout. This exciting change consisted of the stocking of two-year old trout averaging 14 to 17 inches. Although the number stocked is approximately half of what was stocked the first five years of the program, these larger trout weigh about three times as much and provide the quality experience that most anglers desire. Plus, there are trout left from fall stocking still in the streams awaiting anglers.

Although much of the winter trout fishing activity occurs during open water or unfrozen periods, many anglers look forward to the opportunity to catch trout through the ice. In

Watson said she would conduct training classes, by appointment, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. about four days per week, and emphasized that the animals would be coming to her home for training only, there would be no boarding.

She added that her business would not create a parking hardship on her neighbors, as the sessions usually take about an hour—90 minutes at the most—and would not always require the animals’ owners staying for the training.

Watson has been training dogs since 1975, and has had her own business for the last 10 years.

The Board voted to table an application for a bulk variance submitted by James Barney, of the 300 block of Sylvan Avenue, as the applicant was not present. The application will be heard at the November meeting.

Two applications were also approved for improvements to homes on Mercer Street, one in the 100 block and one in the 200 block.

The next regular meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18.

Marchese said that the lake behind the drive-in, which had been on Route 130, will be used for recreational purposes.

\”A retaining pond will be created, kids can enjoy fishing, benches and lighting will be installed,\” he said.

Council okayed the resolution. Customers from all parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania attended the outdoor movies once the facility was built at Route 130 and Klemm Avenue in 1948. It was demolished later on during the late 1960s or early 1970s.

More exciting news came after Mayor William James called Pat O’Donnell up to the microphone.

\”We have plans in the works for a new restaurant to be located at Freedom Pier at the former Coast Guard base,\” he said.

\”We have been looking forward to this development. The restaurant will be similar to the old one we had on Broadway. There will be music, entertainment, seating outside as well as inside and catering will be available,\” he said.

O’Donnell’s was run by the family for 20 years. The new restaurant will be called the \”Patty O’D’s Riverfront Pub.\”

Ordinances on first reading were approved that will amend the vehicle and traffic code Chapter 87 to allow an all-way stop and Sherwood and Sylvan streets. Also, approval was given to amend Chapter 18 entitled \”Animals\” that will allow a Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) program of caught cats in the city.

FORT HOOD, Texas, Nov. 10, 2009 – Thousands of soldiers, veterans, military family members and civilian employees gathered here beneath brilliant blue skies to bid an emotional farewell to 13 of their own killed during last week\’s shooting rampage, and to support the families left behind.

Many of the 38 wounded during the attack had recovered enough from their injuries to attend today\’s memorial service, which included eulogies by President Barack Obama, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey Jr. and Army Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone, the 3rd Corps and Fort Hood commander. 

The service, held in front of the flag-draped 3rd Corps headquarters, opened with the haunting call of bagpipes. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Donald Felt read a roll call, marked by painful silences after the names of the fallen. The 1st Cavalry Division\’s 1st Air Cavalry Brigade broke the quiet with the roaring firing of volleys.
