Rescue Our Outdoors Rally

\”R.O.O.R\” … a reaffirmation that hunters, fishermen and trappers are concerned about their right to enjoy legal outdoor pursuits in the Garden State.\”

\”Politicians pretty much have just a few views of issues, i.e. money, how does it affect/benefit me and are the numbers relevant. It\’s an election year; numbers are the name of the game.\”

\”…The advice here is just show up, especially clubs en masse. That\’s the key to any gathering in support, or protest, of an issue.\”

JOHN OSWALD * STAFF WRITER * Asbury Park Press

\”Another organization… annoyed with the government is the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance. The target of the NJOA\’s outrage is Trenton and what the state government is doing to dismantle recreational opportunities in New Jersey.\”

\”Gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie is scheduled to speak on his commitment to the New Jersey men and women who enjoy the great outdoors.\”

Tell Trenton you\’ve had enough.

Large Crowd Attends Unveiling of the Betty Sheppard Memorial Park

By Chris Concannon

NEWS Correspondent

BELLMAWR-A host of family, friends, administrators, students and teachers, past and present, gathered at Bell Oaks School October 1 to witness the unveiling of the Betty Sheppard Memorial Park, honoring the late, long-standing member of the Bellmawr Board of Education (BOE).

Current BOE President Jody Mangus, said that Sheppard, at the time of her passing, was the 11th longest-serving BOE member in the state of New Jersey.

Superintendent Annette Castiglione opened the evening’s program by introducing former Guidance Counselor Robert Scharlach as Master of Ceremonies, who is arguably Bell Oaks’ biggest fan.

Following the Bell Oaks Chorale’s rendition of our National Anthem, Scharlach offered his welcoming remarks and then introduced Ms. Mangus.

She touched on Sheppard’s tenure in the Bellmawr school system. Sheppard was very passionate about Special Education, implementing numerous initiatives for the developmentally disabled.

Current State Senator Jim Beach (D-4) remembered Betty Sheppard as a very strong-willed person.
