VA to provide $17 million to help homeless veterans | American Legion

VA will share more than $17 million in grants with community groups to create 1,155 beds for homeless veterans this year. The money will go to 19 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

A key tool in VA’s drive to eliminate homelessness among veterans, the grants helped to reduce the number of homeless veterans on any given night by 15 percent – down to about 131,000.

In other programs, VA provides health care and other benefits to about 100,000 homeless veterans, including help in obtaining foreclosed homes and excess federal property (i.e., clothes, footwear and blankets).

Closures Bad for Business | Fish Head

Enough is enough.

Recreational anglers should be outraged … as if they aren’t outraged enough already about some existing fishing regulations (i.e. fluke). But this one not only went too far, it might even be unconstitutional.

As of Monday, black sea bass season was shut down outside of 3 miles for 180 days. It’s gone from a 25-fish daily limit at 12.5 inches to a complete closure of the fishery for half a year.

There was no warning, no reduction of the limit from, say, 25 fish to 10. Instead, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration simply closed federal waters in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) … outside 3 miles … from Cape Hatteras, N.C., to the Hague Line in Maine.

NJ Franchisor Sued for Fraud, Consumer Fraud, Breach of Contract and Violation of Franchise Practices Act : New Jersey Law

Retrofitness franchises have been steadily increasing in number over the last few years. Back in November 2005, Retrofitness entered into a license agreement with Model A’s owners for the development of a Retrofitness facility in Boonton, but Model A alleges in its Complaint filed in New Jersey Superior Court that Retrofitness’ principal, Eric Casaburi, enticed them into the license agreement through a series of false promises and misrepresentations, and then attempted to coerce them into signing a franchise agreement on far less favorable terms for the owners. When the owners refused, Retrofitness terminated the license agreement and, according to t

Letters: The Best Candidate is Wil Levins

\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef01157153a790970b-200wi\" I am writing this letter in support of my husband Wil Levins. He is running as an Independent Candidate for Gloucester City Council.

I want to start by telling you that he is a wonderful husband and father to our two girls. I’m sure you have seen this and heard it many times before. I just needed to say it again. He works very hard to support our family. I feel very lucky to have found someone like Wil to share my life with. You can be sure that if he is elected in November you will have someone that is dedicated to and has the best intentions for the people of Gloucester City.

He is an Independent and will be an Independent voice on City Council. I always thought he would some day run for a public office as he is very good with speaking to people and listening to what they have to say. I think many people in our community want their voices to be heard and to be informed of what is going on in our government.

We bought our house on Baynes Avenue nine years ago after we were married and wanted to start a family. We both love this city. Wil and his family are from Gloucester City. I am not originally from here but have always felt very accepted, as if this were my home town too. Both of our girls go to Cold Springs School and I am the treasurer for their PTO.

I can assure you that if my husband is elected he will do his very best to represent all of the citizens of Gloucester City. I think it is important that every resident have the right to know what is happening in their community and have a watchdog on City Council to be there voice.

I hope that you give Wil a chance to show you what he can do for the people of Gloucester City by voting for him on November 3rd.

Sincerely,

Gina Levins, Gloucester City
