Ewing, NJThe College of New Jersey men’s soccer team pushed unbeaten #17 Montclair State to their limit, but the Red Hawks (8-0-1) knocked in a loose ball off of a corner kick with 4:16 remaining to edge the Lions 1-0.

TCNJ (3-3-3) played a balanced match and were in position to hand Montclair State its first loss of the season. After a scoreless first half, TCNJ had the better part of play for the majority of the second period. Sophomore Ray Nelan (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) and classmate Michael Recchia (Wayside, NJ/Ocean Township) spearheaded several offensive attacks, but the Lions had difficulty penetrating a strong Montclair defense led by sophomore Kevin Brown (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley).

Fall Bow Season Begins Statewide October 3

The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters that New Jersey\’s regular Fall Bow deer hunting season opens October 3 (some zones opened September 12). This year there are some very important changes for Garden State bow hunters. Major changes include the use of crossbows for all archery seasons, and bow and arrow deer hunting is legal on Sundays on Wildlife Management Areas and private properties.

Friday College Sports: Results for Rowan, TCNJ, Rider, Rutgers

ROWAN WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL GOES 0-2 ON FIRST DAY OF SPARTAN INVITATIONAL

YORK, PA – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team lost two matches on the first day of the Spartan Invitational hosted by York College (PA). In the first match, Rowan was defeated, 3-0 by Lebanon Valley College. The Profs lost the nightcap, 3-0 to York.

Rowan has a 5-6 record. The two day competition continues on Saturday, September 26. Rowan plays McDaniel College at noon and Messiah College at 4 p.m.
