Anna Scena of Oaklyn

SCENA, Anna (nee Abate) also known as Annie Abbott, passed away peacefully at her home in Oaklyn, NJ. She was 97 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic (Burr) Scena and mother of the late Richard. Anna is survived by her loving daughters Ursula Hofmann (John) of Paulsboro, Nancy Schaefer (Allen) of Haddon Twp and daughter-in-law Joy Scena of Daleville, AL. She is the dear grandmother of 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews. Anna grew up in Camden and graduated from Camden Catholic HS in 1930 where she was in the play \”High Jinks\”. She enjoyed going to the movies and attending the Archway Senior Center. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. There is no evening viewing. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations in Mrs. Scena\’s name be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053. POHLIG,Helenmay Eileen Patricia (Nee Ryan), on July 13, 2009 surrounded by family at her home, age 88 of Bellmawr, New Jersey, formerly of Colwyn, Pennsylvania; born February 18, 1921; devoted daughter of the late Leo Michael Ryan and Helen Isabelle Ryan (nee Mercer); pre-deceased by her loving husband Frederick Walter Pohlig; beloved sister of Beatrice Warren (Albert), the late Leonia Greenleaf, and the late Mildred Frazier; loving mother of Suzanne M. Belmont (Albert) and Frederick L. Pohlig; loving grandmother to Jeannette M. Taulman (Joseph), Claudia I. Pohlig, Frederick L. Pohlig, Jr. and Albert M. Belmont, III (Marie); also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Worked in the trust department for Fidelity Bank in Philadelphia for more than 25 years. She lived much of her life in Darby and Colwyn, Pennsylvania until she moved to Bellmawer, NJ. A loving mother and grandmother, she helped raise three generations of Pohligs. She will be remembered for her abiding love, caring and thoughtfulness for her family, her devotion to her husband Frederick, her junkets to neighborhood flea markets and her hospitality at her wonderfully and carefully furnished homes. Family and friends are invited to her Viewing July 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. St. Agnes Church, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Church 11:00 a.m. Interment New St. Mary\’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
