Maureen ” Angel ” Zimmer, 69

Our beloved mother, Angel Zimmer, born on January 14, 1957, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in the early morning hours of March 1st. She was a cherished daughter, beloved sister, loving mother, and devoted grandmother.

Growing up in a bustling household with four brothers and numerous cousins, Angel was nurtured in a family environment that shaped her warm, giving spirit. She and her husband relocated their young family to Mechanicsburg, seeking a brighter future, and it was there that they created countless joyful memories with their children, sharing lazy summer days at the community pool and engaging in spirited games of taboo & password.

Keeping Kids Safe in the Digital Age

At its most recent Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, legislators advanced the New Jersey Kids Code Act (A4015), legislation that would require online service providers to implement measures to protect minors’ online privacy. The committee also advanced bills that would require mental health warning labels on certain social media platforms (A4013) and would establish a Social Media Research Center (A4014).

Advocates came out in force in Trenton to testify on the package of bills sponsored by Assemblywoman Andrea Katz, which would strengthen protections for children online and increase accountability for social media platforms.

William Martin Furman, 71, of Audubon

William Martin Furman, a devoted husband, father, pop-pop and brother passed away on February 28, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. A longtime resident of Audubon, NJ, Bill was 71 years old.

Bill was the beloved husband of 48 years to Nancy Furman (nee Low). Devoted father to Matt (Dana) and Lindsay and loving Pop-Pop to Preston, Chase, Baylee, Lincoln, Mila, Vaida, Selena and Navy. He also adored his brothers, Rob and Tom and his sister, Liz along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dougherty Furman and Eunice Mae Jones, his sister, Jacquelyn Ann Furman and his granddaughter, Mila Grace.

Bill grew up in Mt. Ephraim, NJ and graduated from Audubon High School in 1972. He was a devoted sports fan. He never missed a Phillies or Eagles game. He loved going out on his boat and spending time with the people he loved. His greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren grow up.

Sandra M. Schemelia, 75, of Blackwood

Sandra M. “Sandy” Schemelia (nee Gdovin) passed away at Virtua Marlton Hospital on February 18, 2026, after a battle with cancer.

Sandy was born on May 3, 1950, to the late Michael and Ida Gdovin. She was predeceased by her husband, George Schemelia, a United States Marine Corps veteran, and by her daughter, Melissa Ardire. Her 75 years of life were marked by her lifelong residence in Blackwood.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Amanda Majusiak (nee Schemelia); son-in-law Eric; an eagerly awaited grandchild on the way; her adored grandson, Alex Gdovin; siblings Mariann (Charles) Little, Susan Gdovin, Gloria Mosher, Edward Knapp, and Geraldine Sprowl; brother-in-law James Schemelia and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Franklinville Man Found Guilty of Murder in 2022 Bar Shooting

Woodbury, NJ – A jury found Walter Gilliano, 28, of Franklinville, guilty of first-degree murder and two related second-degree weapons charges Tuesday following a four-week trial before the Honorable Roger Lai.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court: On Sept. 24, 2022, Franklin Township Police Department arrived at Villari’s Sports Bar for reports of a gunshot wound. The victim, Chad Stuart, 31, of Clayton, was lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Gilliano told officers he had shot Stuart. The investigation revealed that Gilliano and the victim had argued in the parking lot after the bar closed. The defendant then got into his car and drove away only to return a few minutes later with a gun. An eyewitness told police that Gilliano pointed the gun at the victim and shot him. The victim was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
