William E. Cleary Sr. | CNBNews

MORTON, PA (December 10, 2019)—Former Gloucester City firefighter Michael Malinowski died suddenly on December 3.   Malinowski was a volunteer firefighter with the Gloucester City Fire Department from 1996 to 2015. A few years back he and his family moved to Morton, Pa where he continued to serve as the captain of the Morton Rutledge Volunteer Fire Department.

Michael Malinowski Sr.

On Monday evening, Dec. 2 Malinowski responded to the report of trees and wires down just after 8 p.m. in Nether Providence, Pa. Following the call, Malinowski reported to officers that he was feeling ill, according  to the

DelcoTimes

.

“He was running the duty engine Monday night when they came back he let some of the crew know he wasn’t feeling well,” said Morton Rutledge Fire Chief Don Holstein. “He went to work the next morning, had tightness in his chest and was taken to the hospital where he died.”

Malinowski\’s wife, Melissa Anne posted on her Facebook page,

“My world came crashing down when Michael Malinowski unexpectedly passed away,” she posted on his Facebook page Wednesday.

“I drove him crazy but he loved me, Harper, Cooper, Matt, Michael, & Bailey with all that he had. There were some days the fire house or cooking might have topped us though. I keep wishing we would all wake up from this nightmare. Please keep me, the kids, his mom, his sister, and the rest of his family in your thoughts. I love and miss you so much.”

Malinowski had been with the fire company for five years after being a firefighter in Gloucester City, N.J. Holstein said he was promoted to captain in the past two years.

“You’d walk in and he was the guy who was always there,” Holstein said. “He was all about helping others, either in community or helping friend. If you needed someone one to help you move he was there, an outstanding individual.” reported the

DelcoTimes

.

Holstein said Malinowski was involved in numerous aspects of the fire company from being on the board of directors to training, fund raising and running the website. \”There wasn’t anything you asked that he wouldn’t get done.\”

Since his death the American flag at the fire station on Alfa Terrace has been flying at half staff and black bunting is wrapped on the trucks as Holstein and his 25- 30 fellow firefighters came to gripes with losing one of their own.

Gloucester City Battalion Chief Pat Hagan said, \”Michael was a dedicated volunteer firefighter for the city of Gloucester City for 19 years. He gave his all to serving the residents of our community and our fire department. He will be missed not only by his friends in Gloucester City but also by those he served with in Morton, Pa. Our prayers and condolences are with his family.\”

Hagan said some members of the Gloucester City Fire Department will travel to Morton, Pa for the services.

\”We are very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Firefighter Malinowski,\” said Gloucester City Mayor Dan Spencer.

\”We are grateful for his service to the citizens of Gloucester City. His sacrifice is certainly noticed and appreciated. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Firefighter Family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace,\” said the Mayor.

Delaware County Department of Emergency Services Executive Director Timothy Boyce said his office was informed of Malinowski’s death and notified state officials.

Boyce said there is a window of coverage for first responders that may have had a medical event while on duty pending an investigation.

BREAKING NEWS

Can CBD Oil Help with Essential Tremor?

(Gloucestercitynews.net)(Dec. 10, 2019)–If you’re not fully clued up with the condition, essential tremor is a nerve disorder that is characterized by uncontrollable shaking in different areas or sides of the body.

The most commonly affected areas include the hands, arms, head, larynx (voice box), tongue and chin and, although rare, the lower body can also be affected.

The condition is not life-threatening providing that the affected individual is not restricted in their ability to care for themselves.

Most of those suffering will be able to live normal lives, although difficulty in everyday tasks may be found (eating, dressing, writing etc.).

If the case in which tremors become severe, disability may be caused and full-time carers may be required.

What causes essential tremor?

Prevention and treatment of essential tremor are difficult without first knowing what causes the condition and, although mountains of research have been conducted, the true cause is not fully understood.

As of current, it is thought that

abnormal electrical brain activity

that causes tremor is processed through the thalamus, a structure deep in the brain responsible for coordination and muscle activity. Genetics is thought to be responsible for approximately half of all of those suffering from the condition with children born to a parent suffering essential tremor having a 50% chance of inheriting the gene responsible, although they may never experience any of the symptoms.

Essential tremor does become more pronounced with age, most notably between the ages of 40 and 50, although it can strike at any age, affecting up to 10 million people in the US alone.

What are the symptoms of essential tremor?

The symptoms of essential tremor are the most likely areas that

CBD will be able to improve

with consistent CBD dosages.

Some of the most noteworthy symptoms surrounding essential tremor include the following:

Uncontrollable shaking occurring for brief periods of time

Shaky voice

Nodding head

Tremors worsening during emotionally stressful periods

Tremors worsening with purposeful movement

Tremors lessening with rest

Balance problems (in some rare cases)

However, the characteristic uncontrollable shaking found with those suffering from ET is not unique to the condition and many others can also cause tremors. With Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), brain tumors, metabolic abnormalities, and drug withdrawal, just to name a few – it can be very difficult to pinpoint the condition.

Typical essential tremor treatments

As of current, for those looking for treatment for essential tremors, there are

three main options

to choose from with medication, surgery and MRI-guided focused high-intensity ultrasound.

Medication

The first choice of treatment comes in the form of medication and, specifically oral drugs can significantly reduce the severity of essential tremor.

Some typical medications include:

Propranolol (Inderal)

Primidone (Mysoline)

Gabapentin (Neurontin)

Topiramate (Topamax)

Benzodiazepines Lorazepam (Ativan)

Clonazepam (Klonopin)

Diazepam (Valium)

Alprazolam (Xanax)

Botox injections – particularly effective for those suffering vocal and head tremors.

Surgery

If and when it comes to surgery, patients have the option to choose a Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) procedure.

The surgery, a treatment option for those suffering from severe tremors involves the implantation of electrical leads into the thalamus. This area of the brain, responsible for coordination and muscle control, is the area thought to be responsible for the tremors felt.

MRI-guided focused high-intensity ultrasound

Finally, MRI can be used to focus ultrasound with the goal to destroy the tissue in the thalamus.

Patients will remain awake during the procedure, something that isn’t comfortable for many of those suffering who opt against.

CBD oil to treat essential tremor

This moves us on to the alternative treatment of

CBD

to treat essential tremor and with evidence surrounding the potential for the treatment of MS, Parkinson’s and substance withdrawal, it’s something that has perked the interest of health professionals around the world.

When it comes to the power of CBD, it’s the direct connection to the endocannabinoid system (ECS) that comes with the most interest. The ECS and the endocannabinoid receptors are the main regulators of the majority of the body’s functions (pain, hunger, emotions etc.). That means that when there’s a problem with the body, it’s up to that system to begin the healing processing and, when consuming CBD, this

healing process is enhanced

with the increased production of endocannabinoids.

When the

CBD oil

is used for the purpose of treating essential tremor, the cannabinoids within the oil are able to both target and regulate the ESC receptors, located in both the brain and throughout the body, responsible for muscle movement. These receptors can be regulated by the CBD oil that enables relaxation, reduces inflammation and, as a result, eases the symptoms of tremors and confirming CBD can effectively act as a neuroprotectant – something that

studies have confirmed

.

The University of California in San Diego Research has officially begun an FDA approved trial to view the effects of CBD and THC on essential tremor. Although we’re still waiting on the outcome at this current moment in time, the lead investigator, Dr. Fatta Nahab, is one individual that’s very excited about the prospect of a symptom reliever:

“Essential tremor is 10 times more common than Parkinson’s and yet nobody really knows about essential tremor. That we’re finally getting to a potential therapeutic option in an area that is untapped is a big deal.”

Ambrosino Calls Out Assemblywomen Lampitt And Mosquera

For Being ‘Do As We Say Not As We Do’ South Jersey Democrats

Where were Lampitt and Mosquera after former Assemblyman Barclay punched his girlfriend in the face?

HADDON HEIGHTS – Camden County Republican Chairman Rich Ambrosino asked today when Camden County’s Democrat Assemblywomen were going to end their hypocrisy.

At issue is a recent

press release

issued by Assemblywomen Pam Lampitt and Gabriela Mosquera heralding a bill offering support to victims of violence and abuse.

“While I agree victims of violence and abuse should be supported, I question the level of support Assemblywomen Lampitt and Mosquera actually provide to victims of violence and abuse, Camden County Republican Chairman Rich Ambrosino said. “Both Assemblywomen sat silently on the sidelines when the news of former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay’s arrest for a domestic incident broke.”

Ambrosino asked, “Where was their support for the former Assemblyman’s girlfriend after he punched her in the face?”

Ambrosino explained, “In their press release Lampitt said, ‘Each year, 10 million Americans will be physically abused by their partners, over 430,000 will be sexually assaulted and nearly 5 million seniors will experience elder abuse. These numbers are appalling and simply cannot be ignored.’”

“For once I agree with Lampitt, those numbers cannot be ignored.” Ambrosino continued, “It’s time for Lampitt to explain to the residents of her district why she chose to ignore the fact that an Assemblyman admitted to punching his girlfriend.”

“Did Assemblywomen Lampitt and Mosquera ignore the Barclay arrest because he’s in their party? Are they ignoring the fact he still has a county job because he’s in their party? Are Assemblywomen Lampitt and Mosquera happy with being silent hypocrites,” Ambrosino asked.

“This is just another example of the ‘do as we say not as we do’ South Jersey Democrats in action,” Ambrosino said.

Kathleen C. Del Vecchio of Sewell formerly of Fairview

On December 6, 2019, Kathleen C. Del Vecchio (nee Duffy) of Sewell, NJ (formerly of the Fairview section of Camden) passed away surrounded by her loving family.  Kathy or “Kath IRISH” (as she was known by all of her family & friends) is survived by

Kathleen C. Del Vecchio

the “love of her life”, her husband, Robert “Bach” Del Vecchio. Kathy & Bach were married on September 14, 1968 and recently celebrated their 51

st

Anniversary. In addition, Kathy is survived by her children, Anthony (Tatiana) Del Vecchio, Christopher (Kellie) Del Vecchio and Michelle (Scott) Frampton; her grandchildren: Christopher Del Vecchio, Jr., Emily Del Vecchio, Nicholas Del Vecchio, Joelle Del Vecchio, Tyler Frampton and Ava Del Vecchio; her sisters: Rosemarie Stanton, Peggy Carty & Mary Bocchino. Kathy is pre-deceased by her mother & father: Joseph M. Duffy & Mary Higgins Duffy Gallagher, her step-father, John Gallagher and her brother, Joseph Duffy.  Aunt “Kassie/Aunt Kaffy” is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathy Del Vecchio grew up in Collingswood & Fairview and graduated from Camden High School in 1966. She loved being part of Camden High Avalanche Majorette Team. A few years later, Kathy worked as part of the secretarial pool at Penn Mutual in Philadelphia, PA and Cooper Hospital, in Camden, NJ. Upon starting a family with Bach, they resided in Oaklyn, NJ and planted strong roots in Fairview, from 1973-1999.  In that time, Kathy was a member of the St. Joan of Arc PTA & SJOA Carnival Committee and for many years, the Office Secretary at St. Joan of Arc School, in Fairview. In addition, Kathy was a big part of the Fairview Athletic Association, Organizations of Fairview and the Fairview Little League Ladies Auxiliary, serving as President for several years. It goes without saying that all of the “Fairview Kids” were a big part of her life… and everybody called her “Mom or Mrs. D.”  Whether it was coaching basketball or softball, working the refreshment stand and SJOA Carnival… Kathy loved every minute. And, of course, Kathy loved attending the many Camden High Reunions, Fundraising Socials (dancing to 60’s & 70s music), and the many Fairview Reunions and luncheons.

Kathy was very proud of the life she built with “her Bach” and equally proud of the lives her children have created. In addition, Kathy never missed an opportunity to boast about her grandchildren. Ranging in ages from Nineteen (19) to four (4) years old, Kathy loved attending her grandkids’ school events and athletics. Kathy was always one to a send a little note or card (a.k.a. her “smiles from across the miles”) to her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. The messages always seemed to come at just the right time. Kathy Del Vecchio was loved by many and touched the lives of so many more. She will be missed.

Relatives & Friends are welcomed to attend a visitation on December 14, 2019 at 9AM to 12PM at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Memorial service at 12PM also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy’s honor are encouraged to a choice of your favorite charity.

Republicans in Burlington County Back Congressional Slate

Mount Laurel, NJ – Following a thorough vetting process, the Burlington County Republican Screening Committee recommended an outstanding slate of 2020 congressional candidates Saturday morning, which the full county committee voted unanimously to endorse.

To begin the work now to unseat the incumbent Democrats pushing their radical agenda in Washington, D.C., the committee backed:

Claire Gustafson

in the First Congressional District

David Richter

in the Second Congressional District

Kate Gibbs

in the Third Congressional District

“The Burlington County Republican Committee has a long history of successfully recruiting and supporting diverse and dynamic candidates for elected office,” said Chairman Sean Earlen. “We’re proud to continue that tradition with Claire Gustafson, David Richter, and Kate Gibbs, who are ready to bring the values and priorities of South Jersey to Washington, and fight back against the do-nothing Democrats in Congress.”

Speaking specifically about the Third District, which covers 90% of the county, Earlen said that Kate Gibbs is the exact right candidate for what will be one of the most competitive races in the country.

“Andy Kim went to Washington promising to vote against Nancy Pelosi, and then broke that promise with his first vote.  Now he’s toeing the party line again with this baseless impeachment stunt instead of doing the bipartisan work he was elected to do,” said Earlen.  “He’s a failure and needs to go.”

“By nominating a millennial woman with a proven record of results like Kate Gibbs, we can start bringing civility and sanity back to our nation’s capital,” continued Earlen.  “As a South Jersey native, Kate is no DC insider. From being raised by a single mother and putting herself through college to cutting taxes every year she was in office and creating job opportunities for working families, Kate’s powerful story and broad-based appeal make her the only candidate running who can defeat Andy Kim in 2020.”

Booker Statement on Release of Xiyue Wang

WASHINGTON, D.C —

U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the below statement following the release of Xiyue Wang from Iran:

American student Xiyue Wang freed in prisoner swap image courtesy of NBC News

“I’m elated that, after three years of painful separation and uncertainty, Princeton University student Xiyue Wang and his family will finally be reunited. This is the outcome that New Jerseyans and those around the globe who followed this unjust and politically motivated ordeal had hoped for. I’m grateful for the efforts of those who worked tirelessly and quietly behind the scenes to help bring Xiyue Wang home. Their relentless pursuit of justice is proof that diplomacy is absolutely essential.

“While the release of Xiyue Wang is welcome news, Iran continues to unjustly detain other Americans who also deserve their freedom. I will continue to press this Administration to secure the release of Siamak Namazi, his father Baquer, Bob Levison, Michael White, and Morad Tahbaz. The Iranian regime’s disgraceful detention of innocent American must end.”

Booker led a 2017

letter

urging the U.S. Department of State to take concrete steps to secure the release of Xiyue Wang and all other Americans wrongfully detained in Iran. He is also a cosponsor of a bipartisan resolution urging Iran to release Wang.

Booker is also the author of a bipartisan resolution calling on Iran to immediately release Siamak and Baquer Namazi.

10 New Philadelphia Paramedics Looking Forward to Starting their Career

PHILADELPHIA PA (Dec. 2019)–For paramedics, there are many easier places to work than Philadelphia, which sees an average of 750 EMS incidents every day.

But the 10 paramedics in Class 38 chose to come here anyway — some from as far away as California, Chicago and Boston. And at their graduation on Dec. 6, they pledged to provide the dedicated service that is the hallmark of the Philadelphia Fire Department.

“They know how tough it is here,” said Fire Commissioner Adam K. Thiel. “But they wanted to be part of the best.”

Members of Class 38 were already state-certified paramedics when they decided to join the PFD. Their nine weeks of training at the Fire Academy included lessons on basic vehicle rescue; how to treat children who are seriously ill or injured; and how to respond during active shooter incidents.

The paramedics are joining the department during a period of unprecedented reinvestment. Last month, the PFD reopened four engine companies and put five more ambulances in service.

Paramedic Services Chief Brian Ackerman told those at the graduation ceremony that paramedics now have many more opportunities with the PFD, including training for hazmat responses; attending technical rescue school; and working in alternative EMS response units, such as the one focused on opioid overdoses.

“These initatives and training programs are evidence that the future is bright for paramedics in the Philadelphia Fire Department,” Ackerman said.

Class spokesperson Bradley Woods said the PFD’s newest members would work with honor, compassion and diligence.

“We have the opportunity to impact so many people on a daily basis,” Woods said, “whether it be to provide comfort after a loved one has died, or to welcome a new life into this world.”
