\’Runners fall short in Region 19 tournament

The Gloucester County College women\’s basketball team stepped up in the second half, but couldn\’t catch Bergen County College as it fell, 72-69, in the Region 19 semifinals on Friday.
Trailing, 37-31, at halftime, the Roadrunners outscored Bergen, 38-35, in the second half. With 4:09 left, the game was tied, 64-64, but the Bulldogs went on a five-point run with four from Sabrina Foster.
Liz Plum, a Gloucester Catholic High School graduate, put up a 3-pointer for the Roadrunners to bring the score within three, but that was the last chance they had before time ran out.
Deptford graduate Kristina Cox and Adrienne Sutcliffe, a Gloucester Catholic grad, led GCC with 16 points apiece. Sutcliffe hits four 3\’s while Cox hit two. Another Ram graduate, Noelle O\’Connell, followed with 10 points.
The championship game will take place between Bergen and Brookdale College.
