The College of New Jersey\’s Jessica Bonelli hasn\’t been running track for all that long, but you sure wouldn\’t know it.

\”I started freshman year of high school,\” said the Gloucester Catholic High School graduate. \”I had never run track before and decided to go out for the team. I stayed with it through high school and came here. It\’s an excellent program that I came into. I\’ve been lucky enough to excel the last three years and have definitely improved.\”

The junior\’s improvement has been tangible.

She was a big part of the women\’s indoor track team\’s 10th straight title at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 19, when the Lions easily outpointed Richard Stockton 222-129.

Bonelli, 20, won the 200 meters in 26.96, the 400 in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying time of 1:00.18, and was part of the winning 4×200 relay team, which won in 1:48.49. COURIER POST

Letters/The ticket saga continues

Dear Mr. Bill,

My son called the court on 2/20/07 and was told that he did not have to appear in court on 2/27/07 about his so-called \”Abandoned vehicle.\” He was told to pay the $45.00 fine, which he sent in on 3/2/07.

Today we find a Failure to Appeal notice (!!!!!!!!!) and now he has to pay ANOTHER $10.00 by 3/20/07. This is after he was told by the court that he didn\’t have to appear.

This is about a car that was never abandoned.

And they wonder why people won\’t stay in this City!

Ms. Terry M. Callen

Irish Chuckles by KenMac

Laugh with the Irish

Paddy was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an
important meeting and couldn\’t find a parking place. Looking up to
heaven he said, \”Lord take pity on me. If you find me a parking
place I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of me life and give
up me Irish Whiskey!\”

Miraculously, a parking place appeared.

Paddy looked up again and said, \”Never mind, I found one.\”

Why should we have to call the Street Dept.?

Ms. Ritchie,

Thank you for fully illustrating an obvious problem. A citizen of this community had to actually call public works for a street sign. One would naturally think that a street sign is a high priority in response to emergencies.

I firmly believe that someone from the police or fire departments reported this issue to public works prior to a resident making a phone call.

Why does it take a phone call from a resident or a posting on a web blog to get something done? For public safety, a temporary sign could have been placed in short order while the permanent sign was being built.

Also, I am not talking about low priority issues like branch pick-up. I have no problem calling the city for that issue.

If public works keeps chipping away at their issues in this city, this city will be a even better place to live.
