The Rowan Boulevard project – the stretch of land that has been identified by the Campus Master Plan as the \”east edge of campus to the borough\’s historic downtown\” – is finally breaking ground. Demolition of houses and other buildings is set to begin after commencement.
The $300 million redevelopment will begin with a $100 million Phase One that includes two townhouse complexes, a Holiday Inn Express, a 36,000-square-foot Barnes & Noble College Bookstore, and two mixed residential-retail buildings. In addition to the bookstore, a 6,000-square-foot Starbucks will also be constructed. All buildings, including Rowan Boulevard itself, are planned to be finished by the end of 2010.
